The restaurant was great and the food was delicious but best of all was our server, Adrian. He was smart, friendly and funny. He offered great recommendations, engaged with our group and let us enjoy a evening out. I was immensely impressed when he took a photo of our group on the restaurant's camera and followed up by emailing it to me a few days later. If you go, ask for Adrian!

If you are interested in eating at a Roy's restaurant, THIS IS THE ONE!! I have been to 5 other Roy's and this one was the absolute best I have ever been to. We went for our 10th anniversary/Birthday and we were treated like royalty. From the attentive hostess who wished us a happy anniversary, to the special anniversary wish placed inside the menu's, the service just kept coming. As we were also there to celebrate a birthday, they placed a ribbon on the table and the managers all came by to wish us well on our special occasions. Carlos, our waiter, was absolutely amazing at his job and took extremely great care of us. Greg, the manager, also stopped by and chatted with us quite a bit. Our food was incredible as always and of course, who could go to Roy's without having the souffle? We were even comped a birthday dessert. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area!!

Great food, excellent service. What else can I say. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a couple.

I love Roy's. First, their service here is impeccable; their complimentary valet was as good as valet service gets, the managers were so wonderful, and the waiter kept our drink glasses full. And then there's the food. I ordered the butter fish and it was amazing. And then I ordered the chocolate souffle, and it was just as amazing. Absolutely wonderful experience at Roy's.

love the appetizer boat. the ribs are especially well seasoned, tender and juicy. coconut shrimp are also crispy, succulent and very tasty. sometimes i get the trio of fish, which is pretty good, but the best element out of the three is the miso black cod, my wife's favorite dish. it comes perched on top of a black squid ink risotto and it is the most buttery, flaky fish seasoned with a slightly sweet miso glaze. absolutely delicious. chocolate souffle is also very rich and smooth, the melting ganache oozing out and flavoring the vanilla ice cream. the prix fixe is an excellent value, you can choose between one appetizer, one entree and one dessert from a pre-selected menu.

This is a very pretty place, but the food was at best mediocre. I can't imagine what I was expecting, perhaps delicious fusion food like at Terra in St. Helena? But what I got was jumped up Applebees. And yes while they kept on filling our water glasses and asking us if we wanted another Mai Tai repeatedly after we had said "no" more than once, otherwise the waiter seemed indifferent. I imagine serving Calamari nuggets (read mc) all evening would not inspire one to enthusiasm. My entree was what they called "Cioppino." It was a very nasty defamation to a lovely San Francisco dish. It was a salty fish stock with a small amount of fish and some clams, mussels, and scallops, a thin slice of fennel and a single slice of peeled very under ripe roma tomato--I suppose as a homage to real Cioppino. In this restaurant "fusion" means combining apathetic cooking with moderately priced ingredients. I will never go back when I can get a 5 star dinner elsewhere for the same money.

Absolutely fabulous service from Hector, and the food, as always, incredible. Hector was very attentive, constantly checking in, but not being overbearing. His recommendations were absolutely divine - the Kobe sushi, poached pear salad, tofu cheese cake (my husband doesn't even like tofu, but insisted on it and was pleasantly surprised). I don't have enough words to describe it!!!

Great food and service! If you've been to any other Roy's, they seem to be consistent and that's not a bad thing. If you're out here, an excellent choice for dinner.

Always good! I've never regretted a meal here. Great date spot. Get the butterfish - Or better yet, they do a fish trio that includes the butterfish which is fantastic. The strawberry volcano drink is liquid desert. Delicious. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is I save that for world class restaurants and while Roy's is quite nice and reliable it's not that. ;-)

went there for the special monday prix fixe menu that allowed you to choose anything off the menu (there were just a few exceptions) for about $36. we were celebrating the hubby's birthday and they greeted him as such as soon as we entered and had a special menu for him recognizing the event. our waiter was great and gave us some honest info about the menu and we had the potstickers, poke, ahi and scallops and all were absolutely perfect. we had bread pudding and the chocolate of course for deset and they also brought the hubby a free dessert as well. i heard that this was the last Monday for the choose anything prix fixe and i hope that was wrong as i would love to go back every Monday while in town to try everything on the menu. Hope to go back again next Monday!

long day on the green? throw on your golfing best and head over to roy's - it's an upscale chain restaurant! yeah! in concept, I hate upscale chain restaurants - like nobu in san diego - but really, the food is pretty decent and, in an area like rancho mirage where everything is so expensive, its nice to have a reliably good meal for not that much money. that said, i'm not sure i need to eat here ever again. it was my husband's birthday and he wanted to eat here - after two 1988 martini's in quick succession I had a good time - enjoyed my husband's butterfish (prob. one of the best things on the menu) and I had the scallops which were firm and not over-cooked - the white beans the scallops were served with tasted like they were seasoned with that packaged taco seasoning.

Roy's provided us with a great dining experience. The food was the best I've had in years. The wait staff were professional, but also warm and friendly and the place itself was attractive and comfortable. We liked it so much we went back the next evening for dinner again. I give this place an A+ with extra credit.

Meh for sure. My fish had bones in it. We were with a party of 12 with a reservation and they made us wait to be seated when no one else was in the restaurant on a Wednesday night. They took my meal off the bill, so I gave them 2 stars instead of 1.

I was so impressed that I sent compliments via letter to Roy's corporate marketing and to the restaurant management. Been six months and I haven't heard back from either one. Maybe they get so many compliments they just take them for granted?

If I were rating for customer service and ambiance alone, I would give Roy's 5 stars. But, alas...it's the food that really counts. So, consider this a 2.5 star review..closer to 3 than 2 stars. We went to Roy's for my birthday just after Christmas and everyone there made a fuss when they learned why were were there. In fact, they ask you outright if you're celebrating a special occasion. They even have a specially-bound birthday menu. I started off with a tropical drink to fully experience the Hawaiian vibe. A wedge salad and ahi tuna appetizer followed. Both were very good (as was the complimentary spicy edame at the table). For entree, I ordered a pork osso buco over cassoulet with braised greens. The meat, while tender, completely lacked seasoning, though, and the white beans, while moist from the meat juices, had a bit of crunch. My husband's pan-fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with a nice sauce, but the cut was skimpy and he asked to sub the sweet potato purée with white potato, but they forgot. We mentioned this to our server and he was very nice about it, but insisted it was not sweet potato (it was not white, so we assumed it was sweet potato). I tasted it and it was not sweet potato, nor was it white potato. The server was embarrassed, as he did not know what it was. I wondered it it was a celery root purée, whatever it was it was chalky. The server came back to tell it was a seasonal root veggie, but I forget now what it was. Dessert was better - a warm bread pudding with a tasty huckleberry sauce. I could barely get through eating that, when they brought out a complimentary dessert plate with a personalized greeting in chocolate sauce. The coffee was good, too, and they kept that coming. Our server then took a snapshot of us and brought it back with a cardboard frame with Roy's brand. It was a nice touch. Overall, the bill was pricey, which is fine for a special occasion, but the main entrees were really lacking. So, that was a disappointment. But again, everyone there was great...from the moment we walked in to our leaving the table. In between the manager checked in with us a few times and called me by my name, and the server was friendly and gave us tips about the area. That experience and the decor, nice table, were all memorable, but I think we'll try another place the next time we're in town.

The best customer service I have ever seen. 2 managers on the floor and incredible interactions with customers. Birthday treat was massive and very diverse. I usually dont like to drop big bucks (30 or so ) for dinner but this is one of the few places I dont mind. Awesome

Excellence customer service. Everything was delicious. Great for kids. My sons like their edamame, they gave us two plates of edamame for free. Also, they gave each of my sons one plates of cheese quesadilla, free soda, and even free sundae with their names on the plate. We paid $212 for 4 people that night because we ordered a lot, but it's worth for their food quality and service.

From the minute we were greeted with "Happy Birthday Lori" I felt like everyone was on board to make my birthday special. They really go all out with the special page in the menu with your name on it to the framed picture they treat you to. The service was impeccable. The room had a good feel. Our waiter let us know we weren't going to be rushed and made us feel very taken care of. It was like all the employees were in this zone, moving together as a team to ensure everyone had a good experience. It was like they were watching and anticipating our every need. I got up to go to the ladies room a waiter pointed me in the right direction before I asked and when I returned someone had re-folded my napkin. but........................ I have to say that I was disappointed in the food. We liked the lobster rolls appetizer but the potstickers were too chewy. We both ordered the trio of fish. The Macadamia nut crusted Mahi, which is a signature dish, was tough. It was either overcooked or frozen but the texture was not good. I had seen the chef prepare it on TV and the version I made at home was superior to the restaurants. The other fish was adequate but I really never got the burst of flavor I was looking for. Blah is the word I would use. They served us some good sticky rice but there was just a teenie bit of sauce on each piece of fish so the rice was blah too. Maybe a little cup sauce on the side would help the rice. Our waiter encouraged us to order the chocolate souffle during dinner because it take awhile to cook to order. It was fantastic but I an still nursing the burns in my mouth. A little warning would have been good. We had the Roys Hawaiian Martini which was tasty. We also ordered a bottle of Sake. It was 25.00 and was a very small bottle, the size of a small water bottle, good though. Anyway all the stars were for the atmosphere and service. Maybe well try a different entree next time.

My husband Jim and I recently had a little get away in Palm Desert. One of our favorite places to dine is Roy's Restaurant. As usual Jim had the grilled Ahi-he never deviates. I had the shrimp that was a special dinner plate with chick peas, and pork pot-stickers. A glass of Cab and we were all set. Delicious.

You would think that Roy's would bring a little bit of paradise with it from Hawaii, but I didn't see any rainbows before during or after my meal. I always heard nice things about Roy's unique and fresh food that had a lot of flair. Nothing about my meal felt that way. Drinks we ordered were mediocre. My Manhattan didn't taste like it had any thing but makers mark in it. Not the worst thing, but not a Manhattan. Awfully simple drink to screw up. My mom's drink, who I was taking out for a nice meal during my visit to PS, was equally mediocre. I ordered the Kahlua pork dim sum. I asked the waiter before I ordered if it was similar to a dumpling or what it was, but he didn't really know. It was, but the won ton wrapper was very chewy and there wasn't much filling. Dinner was pretty average as well. I ordered sea bass. The fish was pretty mushy despite a nice sear on the outside and had no flavor or seasoning. I have my suspicions it was frozen at some point. Along with it were mushy artichoke hearts usually one of my favorites. The biggest issue was that Roy's was determined to choke me. Fish had about 6 pin bones in it still, and the artichokes had some of their thorns on it still. Not fun. All in all I felt like the meal wasn't unique, well done, and while not incredibly expensive, I have had much better for far less. I say there isn't much Aloha spirit there.

Sigh....we went here for our 7th wedding anniversary on May 10. We had been to the one in San Francisco several times and loved everything about it - the "vibe", the option to sit and watch the action in the kitchen, the service (impeccable, with knowledgeable servers) , and the luscious food. The Palm Springs version was like a completely different restaurant. We opted to sit at the bar overlooking the kitchen. In SF, the bar is above the kitchen, so you can easily see everything. And there is glass between the chefs and the customer, So they can't interact, which I now realize is a good thing. And that's all I'm going to say about that. The server who took our order was apparently also the bartender. W ordered the canoe, an appetizer plate with seared ahi (SF has poke, which we preferred, although the seared was not bad - the sauce was pretty good), a California roll, which was fine, shrimp sticks, (forrgettable - in fact, I had to check the menu to write this because I did forget them), lobster potstickers, which unlike the SF version had no discernable lobster flavor at all, and oh, what disappointment; the ribs. In SF, the ribs are falling-off-the bone tender (and so were these), but have a very smoky, delicious flavor. These were sweet and had no smoke flavor at all. SF has a smoker just off the kitchen - I assume that Palm Springs does not. When we ordered our appetizer, our server asked whether we wanted one of the desserts which take 15 minutes to prepare. We told him we did, and he told us he'd take our order when our main courses were delivered. We thought that was odd - why not take the order now and put it in later, the same way one would with the appetizer and entree? Quite a while before our main courses came, we ordered a second glass of wine that we thought would go well with our entree choices. Unfortunately, it never came; our dinner did, though, brought by a different person and quickly dropped off (delivering mine to Rob and vice-versa). For our entrees, Rob had ordered the seared scallops over risotto with a lobster curry sauce and I had ordered the shellfish sampler (with some hesitation, because so many restaurants screw up lobster, but I figured Roy's is known for it's seafood...). Rob thought the scallops were okay - very slightly overcooked, but not bad. There was a reddish sauce on the plate, but it had almost no flavor. There was definitely no curry flavor, which was such a bummer, because he thought that the curry would be a really great match for the scallops and the particular wine he had ordered, and that's why he had ordered the dish. Mine was just...bad. The tiny piece of lobster in the middle of the plate was overcooked and dry and they had gotten pieces of the shell into the lobster. Ick. The scallops were okay and I could tell at a glance that the tiny shrimp were horribly overcooked. They were coiled tightly. They were supposed to be "stuffed shrimp", but there was no stuffing - it would have been pretty hard to stuff anything in those tiny things, anyway. Sure enough, they were tough and rubbery. I could not believe that Roy's would screw up seafood that badly - and then serve it! They could at least have used nice sized shrimp, not these tiny things - no wonder they were overcooked. The person who dropped off our food left immediately without asking us whether we needed anything. (He also did not mention the dessert - he was gone before we could say a word). So we sat and tried to get someone's attention to get our wine. We waited, and waited, and...well, waited. Eventually the bar tender came out and I flagged him down and he remembered the wine and brought it. But really - this is becoming a major pet peeve of ours! These places have extensive wine lists and people want wine with their food - and that's the main way that restaurants make their money! So now we are eating cold, overcooked (in my case) seafood with a flavorless sauce. When our wine was finally delivered, we again mentioned the dessert (we were craving the pineapple upside down cake). The server took our order, but I suspect he forgot to put it in. After waiting and waiting and waiting, we saw our server go in and say something to someone in the kitchen - we are fairly sure he was asking them to try to get the cake out because he had forgotten it. When it came, it was not nearly as good as the one we had previously in SF - but by now we realized that this is not anything like the SF Roy's.

The food is always fantastic at Roy's but you must try the Pomegranate Patron Mojito. It sounds different, I know, but it's YUM! We started with the Lobster Pot-stickers which were divine and for dinner we both had the Shellfish Sampler. My server let me substitute the scallops for more shrimp, which I appreciated. Roy's never disappoints.

The food here is GOOD. Everything is a quality product. Service is attentive. Even if you are only having water, they make sure that water cup is filled every 5 minutes. They treat me with respect even when I'm dressed like a slob. They better considering how much we're paying, but still they do it. I know its a seafood place, but I've only had the steak. Everyone I was with, liked their seafood though. I don't think you can to wrong with this Roy's.

This Roy's is my favorite Roy's of all. Every time we are in Rancho Mirage we go to this restaurant. One of the main reasons, besides the food being excellen,t is the service. For the past five years at least we have been requesting server 'The David' as he likes to be called. He makes you feel like a VIP each and every time you go there. We consistently we receive five star service from him and the food is five star also. The last time we went there we bought our best friends and they were blown away by David and his great service. They had been to the restaurant before but not at a 'The David' table. I highly recommend that you request him for your server the next time you go there. Also I would like to mention the Manager and wine Som Amanda. She is excellent and knows her wines. All in all you cannot go wrong. Make your reservations today and enjoy a top notch meal along with the best service ever. Enjoy.....

I started with the Ahi Poke. SImply the best it can be. I enjoyed EVERY bite. Then the Roy's Trio - Butterfish, Ahi and Salmon. Each excellent and satisfying. Met Chef Charles who was a delight. Lots of attention, the secret to any great restaurant experience. From Valet Erin (my FIRST impression of the resturant) to Waiter Chris and on down the line, everyone was excited to see us and most accomodating. I will be back again and again.

I am obsessed with their boneless short ribs....soooooooo good. They also have the best meatloaf I have ever had in a restaurant (it's a special...not always on the menu). Great food, great ambiance, and great service. Love Roy's!

  • P R.

The star is for the excellent service. We (a party of 5) waited for over 45 minutes for our food to arrive. No bread served as they stopped that a couple of years ago from what the waiter said. One bowl of edaname beans to hold everyone over did not suffice. The food was lacking taste and the amount served, well what can I say...I saw more of the plate than the meal itself. The price was ridiculously over the top for what you got. The wait staff almost seemed embarrassed and came by to take photos of our special occasion to take home. Nice touch. Probably a great meeting place for Happy Hour from what I can see in the reviews. I suggest though going somewhere else for dinner.

Had a wonderful evening, great food and great service. Our party had a little of everything, short ribs, butterfish/salmon/mahi mahi, appetizers and dessert, and we were all more than satisfied. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants, looking forward to our next visit.

Went to dinner here based on Yelp ratings. It fulfilled all our expectations. Service was great, attentive, yet unobtrusive. Meal was excellent. I had scallops - seared to perfection. Spouse had shrimp with crab - also excellently prepared and presented. Although an upscale restaurant they were prepared for families with small children. My only nitpick is that you can't get into the parking lot without going through the valet.

OK- I've been wanting to go to Roy's for dinner for some time now- ever since I had a decent meal there (lunch) with my pop at the san francisco branch. When it comes to fine dining, I bear no prejudice against chains- as long as the dining is fine. Frankly, I'd rather eat at a good chain then a crappy stand alone. They get points for seating us promptly even though we showed up 20 minutes late. Our waiter made me feel old (i'm 32.) Our cocktails were sweet n' delish- perfect for your inner sorority girl. The mains were satisfactory- not too expensive- I was actually expecting prices well in excess of what we actually got. No complaints. Delivered what I expected.

Let me just say that we are Roy's Fans. We frequent the Roy's in Newport Beach, and have been to the Roy's in Hawaii. Both are fabulous. So when we were deciding where to go, obviously, we thought we could not go wrong with Roy's. Sushi is excellent and I usually get the Lamb Chops which are the best. What a huge disappointment. I doubt I will go to this Roy's again. First off, we had the Lobster Rolls. I have never ever had Sushi where the it looks like everything is mashed together. You couldn't even pick up the roll without getting rice all over the place. They did not have Lamp here so had the shrimp, lobster, and scallops. 2 pieces of each for $35 and pretty plain tasting. Great atmosphere but the food doesn't do it here. I think management needs to take a closer look at the quality here.

First time eating at a mainland Roy's. We try to save it for when we travel to Hawaii :) Great food for everyone. Staff is awesome! Our main waiter made special desserts for the children. We would definitely go back:) **REading other reviews - we had no mandatory valet parking. There was plenty of parking when we ate there**

Good, but not that THAT good. We came here last weekend for my bf's birthday dinner with his family. The service was great and the atmosphere was upscale, tropical modern deco. I had the butterfish with misoyaki sauce on top of chinese broccoli with a side of white rice. IT WAS DELICIOUS, but the food was a bit cold. My bf ordered the Surf & Turf (filet mignon and tiger shrimp). After a 5 minute delibration, he decided to order his steak Medium Rare since most places tend to overcook. The steak was WAY RARE but still very good. For dessert we ordered the chocolate souffle and since it was his birthday, he also got some custard. The custard was heaven. Anyways, my review is only 3 stars because the whole night was just kinda awkward because of the family drama. It's funny how one's mood effects your appetite.

Short answer - Roy's in Palm Springs is a great place for that special night, the food and service are top notch. Highly recommended! We went here this past weekend for a quick anniversary getaway, and decided we'd head to Roy's to celebrate. I've heard from a few friends that Roy's is delicious (if a bit spendy), and I defintely concur. We started off with a glass of wine, and the appetizer for two platter. This had two each of five different items, and honestly they were all very good. Of note the sushi, something like a deep fried spicy tuna roll, was excellent, nice and light, crispy batter on the outside, fully raw fish on the inside (I usually hate fried sushi rolls). The spring rolls were probably my favorite, very flavorful, light, and crunchy. Also included are ribs (incredibly tender and sweet), lobster potstickers, and skewered shrimp. For our entrees I ordered the fish "combo", and my wife the shellfish combo. My dish included a teryaki salmon, seared ahi with creamy mustard sauce, and butterfish. The salmon was good, but not special as its hard to go wrong with a hawaiian/teryaki style salmon. The ahi was perfectly seared, a couple millimeters of white around the edges and deep, red, raw ahi in the middle, on top of a creamy mustard/wasabi sauce that I wish I could buy a jar of -- in fact, the sauces here make the dishes. Last was my favorite, the butterfish. Definitely the best cooked fish i've EVER had, it was so flavorful, flaky, and wonderful I could eat this everyday (and wish I knew how to make it). If you're having trouble deciding what to get, get the butterfish! My wife had the shellfish sampler, the shrimp were good but not incredible (similar to the appetizer shrimp), but the scallops were perfectly cooked (tender, tasty, amazing sauce), and probably the biggest I've seen. For dessert, chef Liang sent us out a special anniversary custard which was good, but too rich for more than a couple bites. We had the chocolate souffle and pineapple upside down cake - the pineapple cake was my preference, and it came with toasted coconut flake ice-cream, again which I wish I could buy and take home. The experience was great overall - the service is spot-on, helpful without being overbearing, the place is well decorated and romantic. They provide free valet parking as well.

I struggled between 3 & 4 stars, but for taste and quality, I have to go with 4 stars. For portion size, I'd go with negative 8 stars, if that were possible. My friend and I each got the trio of fish sampler, and in my mind, the individual pieces of fish should have equaled up to the size of one moderately sized piece of fish. It came - beautifully presented - with 3 bites of fish, each on a small, separate plate. BITES. One bite of fish per plate. After that bite, you're done - it's literally a 3-bite, $30 meal. Other friends had the steak, and that seemed to be a 6-bite meal. The famous chocolate souffle (sp?) was a 4-bite dessert. Everything tasted amazing, but we were done eating in about 18 minutes flat. We had to devour bags of chips back @ our hotel to fill us up, and we're all petite women, so it doesn't normally take much to fill us up. I do recommend Roy's, but you should be prepared. This isn't a good place to go to if you're starving and have less than $100 to spend. Customer service was lacking - waitress didn't have answers to any basic menu-related questions we asked - but I've talked to others who had a great customer service experience here.

The BEST happy hour in town! $5.00 apps and drinks, even their specialty drinks! So, where do I start? Kameron the manager was a delight as we approached the front door... so friendly and accomodating. Our experience in the bar for happy hour was such a delight. Eddie our server was hands on without being obtrusive. His attitude and just glad that we were there was so refreshing. As it got busier his attentiveness never lacked. He made the rounds and made everyone feel like they were home! He then surprised us and the birthday boy with a special molten chocolate cake and with Happy Birthday Ben written on the plate in chocolate. So special and it was comped by Roys. Customer service is just the best as it should be, that's why all the slackers are going out of business and the strong will survive like Roys in this economy. More bang for your buck and service to the extreme. Keep up the good work Kameron and Eddie. Even the sweet valet guy. Kudos! Thank you for making our H/H such a memorable experience. We will be back !

Arrived for 6:30 pm reservation and was promptly taken to a delightful table right next to the kitchen!!! No thank you, not on Christmas, not ever. Was reassigned to an appropriately placed table immediately. If one was available elsewhere why on earth seat someone with a reservation in one of the worst possible spots?? Beyond that the service attentive, food and ambiance were delightful. Food was flavorful, drinks - hmm quite strong! No hint of a kitchen backup. partner says scallops were delicious, I had the grilled salmon with grilled cauliflower couscos. I asked for no dairy and it was honored! Kids, boring as they are chose from the kids meal but we also added the ribs from the appetizer menu which are still (5 days later) sitting in our refridgerator back in the bay area!! They looked tasty! Interested to try the SF Roy's.

Easily my favorite restaurant on the mainland. The surf and turf is delectable. The service is friendly and prompt. The drinks and desserts (pineapple upside down cake...mmmmm.) are top notch. Love this place!

I have been to Roy's all over the world. This place was great! Service was great. The food was spectacular. The ono and the wasabi crusted scallops were perfect. And the cocktails here are wonderful. It is hard to go anywhere else in the area for fish or seafood. Pricey but it is well worth it. We are still talking about it several days after.

Roy's, as always, does an amazing job impressing me. When I made my reservation over the phone, they asked me if I was celebrating a special occasion. I mentioned that my friends and I were there to celebrate our friend's bachelorette weekend. When we arrived, they set out special menus with an insert to congratulate her on her upcoming marriage. Wow, right? We ordered sushi rolls as starters, Lilikoi and the Kobe beef, which were delicious. Each of us got one of their delicious fish dishes. I tried a sip of a friend's mango mojito and it was super yummy. As another detail to impress, they brought out a macadamia nut tart for our bachelorette. To end our evening, our server took a group photo, which I looked quite flattering I might add, and printed out a copy of it to give to our friend as a keepsake. Oh, how I love those special details.

Always great service and excellent food. Well worth the price and the drive. A wonderful place for that special occasion. Make sure you sign up for their e-club. It is a great way to learn about the specials. Reservations can be made on-line.

We loved Roy's so much, my wife and I went here twice during our recent vacation. Both nights, we had PAC tickets, so we asked for a little extra pace to the meal; they easily accommodated. The poke appetizer had sushi grade tuna as good as it gets, and a delicious wasabi based sauce. The prix fixe Dynamite Crusted Salmon was melt in the mouth, and an impressive value ($35), too! Their $10 martini was a generous pour, done right. I don't usually bother with dessert, but the Strawberry Guava Tart was excellent; packed with flavor in every bite. On the second visit, I ordered the classic fish trio, consisting of Hibachi Grilled Salmon, Blackened Island Ahi & Hawaiian Style Misoyaki Butterfish. The salmon was dry compared to our first night, so I sent it back for another attempt. The second piece of salmon was undercooked and not sushi quality. So they substituted another serving of the truly melt in the mouth monk fish. The manager comped us a $20 certificate for our next meal. We go to Palm Springs about once a year; he said no problem, they'll honor the certificate then. You can pay a lot more for a meal than at Roy's, they are not inexpensive, but it's guaranteed you'll have a great meal and they will take care of you.

Very disappointing meal. Fried calamari was rubber. They took it off bill. The shrimp was cooked so long it was dry and absent of texture. Mahi-mahi was lacking any flavor. We have been to Roy's in Hawaii and Jacksonville. Always had special meal. This place was nothing special

Butterfish Butterfish Butterfish!!! Chocolate Soufflee!!! Yum yum yum. I went to Roy's for the first time while in Palm Springs for a girls only spa weekend. I can't believe I didn't try Roy's sooner. My hubby, pooch and I are going to Palm Springs for a gambling and lounge by the pool Labor Day weekend mini vacation and will be going to Roy's...to introduce my hubby to the delicious Butterfish! I can't wait.

Food at this Roy's was quite good and certainly up to their standards. We had a problem in getting a decent table. #1 was in a tight corner with no room to move; #2 was right in front of a busing station and very noisy; #3 was finally a good table.

Awesome combination of great food and exceptional hospitality at Roy's Rancho Mirage. Wife and I had an excellent dinner there a couple nights ago. From the moment we pulled up to the time we left, all the staff made us feel like we were honored guests in their home. Our server Gina was just outstanding... great demeanor, terrific smile, and very attentive from start to finish. The food was great overall... definitely suggest the calamari and tuna poke appetizers, and also the sparerib entree. My wife's ribeye steak came out a bit overcooked, but the manager, Jeff, quickly had another one prepared, which was perfect. He personally brought the second steak to table and asked us to tell him if it wasn't perfect. Jeff's single goal seemed to be to make sure we were 100% happy with the food and overall experience at his restaurant. We highly recommend Roy's Rancho Mirage! The food is very well prepared and the hospitality is out of this world.

rustle and bustle in the desert...roy's provides a trendy clean large scale eatary in the desert oasis....friendly "aloha" staff...attentive service with a smile....host making rounds to check on everything.....almost a skit...rehearsed...trained....bit artificial.... food?...it's fair...good...but shy from spectacular...interesting sampler of tiger shrimp on a skewer....sweet teriyaki style glazed ribs....perfectly fried dumplings.....braised beef..bit over braised...sweet...falling apart....great creamy potatoes....perfect steamed veggies.....seafood seems to shine a bit more....flakey moist fish....hawaiian flavors of sweet, salty, glazed and flavorful....rich and playful flavors to entertain the tastebuds...but with so many heavy weight contenders..roy's falls short in the desert battles of the foods...

We have been to several Roy's Restaurants in Hawaii, this is our first one outside the islands. The restaurant is large with a big bar and a flat screen showing sporting events, visible from most seats in the house. We were two for dinner on a Sunday night. The place was close to full and the noise was like in any other Roy's I have been to - high. The menu had some dishes in common with other Roy's places and some things new to me. The wine list is not big and the choice by glass limited. They had a prix fixe menu- $30 for three courses, from which we chose. The Thai meat balls appetizer was excellent, the salad was good. The "seasonal" salmon was good and the chocolate souffle was very good. The service was a little amateurish at times, but overall OK. They have valet parking.

pretty good service. (although the mandatory valet parking is very lame). The food was ok. a little pricey for what you get. i ordered their prefix that have a couple items to choose from. I ended up with seared ahi appetizer which was pretty good, followed by the main course of proscuitto wrapped shrimp on top of fried rice and strawberry shortcake for dessert (yeah, so what... i like strawberries, is that so wrong?) The shrimp was good. the rice wasn't that great. the outside was crispy which made it hard to eat (chunks of hard rice to bite down on?). My friend's tried a new dessert, some kind of peach compote (i think). it was really good. i would recommend that any day.

I am really ashamed of myself. Until a few weeks ago....I had never been to Roy's. I have lived near several Roy's; the Newport Beach Location, the San Diego location...I believe I've even driven by one in Vegas. Why had I never tried it???? I think I somehow got the impression (completely incorrectly) that it was like a "nicer" PF Changs. Maybe because it is a chain? Maybe because of something as stupid as the font for the name? Who knows. I hate myself a little bit right now for being prejudiced. After seeing Roy on Top Chef (he was the nicest, most humble, and most HUMAN person on Top Chef Masters) I realized that maybe I had made some weird judgment....and that I needed to try this place. My friend Sara S. and I were belatedly celebrating my birthday in Palm Springs, and since she loves to take me out for a fancy birthday meal (and I love to let her) we decided to go to Roy's. Unfortunately, we were starving when we walked in. Fortunately, our server, Michelle, was apparently a mind reader; part way through her description of the menu, she realized that we would be much happier customers if she got us food NOW. So she asked us if we wanted an appetizer right that moment, and if she could then come back and talk about the menu later. I have to say, I don't know if I have EVER seen a server with such good instincts. Throughout the entire night, she knew exactly how much conversation and how much space we needed; she made perfect suggestions, and overall made our dining experience absolutely perfect. We had: Drinks: -Hawaiian Martini (We ended up having two of these) -1988 Martini (made with lychee liquor...amazing) Appetizers: -Ahi Poke - Sara orders this wherever we go. I even said to her "Dude, Sara, you can have ahi poke anywhere, don't order it here. "Boy was I wrong....this is the best ahi poke I have EVER had. The wasabi sauce served with it was also amazing. -Crispy Shrimp Lumpia - this was on the prixe fixe menu but they of course let us have it anyway, and it was INCREDIBLE. It is rare to eat something fried that doesn't feel heavy; it was perfectly crispy and light, not oily, and delicious. Entree: -Porcini Mushroom Dusted U-10 Sea Scallops with Kalua Pork & Asparagus Creamy Risotto - Holy crap this was amazing. Sara ate most of the risotto because she loved the kalua pork flavor. The scallops were incredible. Dessert: Here is where it got interesting. We ordered the Pineapple Upside-down Cake. But because it was my first time at Roy's, and Michelle said that I really should experience the Chocolate Souffle, she also brought us out two mini chocolate souffles AND champagne on the house. The pineapple upside down cake was served with coconut ice cream and the flavor was just un-freaking-believeable; really most, pineapple-y, and even though I was so full I could have burst, we cleaned both plates. The best bite was a little coconut ice cream, a little pineapple cake, and a tiny bit of chocolate sauce. Michelle even took our picture and framed two copies for us, and we BOTH look good. I know it is a little cheesy...but I loved it:) Yesterday, I actually got a Thank You card in the mail, HANDWRITTEN from Michelle!! She even referenced something we had talked about while we were there. Roy, and Roy's...and Michelle.....I'm your new biggest fan.

I really like Roy's restaurants, despite their fabulouslty expensive prices, but this one just wasn't as good as either the Pasadena or San Diego location. It had a comparatively limited menu, and the service was exceptionally slow. The food, however, was very good.

We went to Roy's Saturday (6/8/13) for the first time to celebrate an early Father's Day & a birthday and had an EXCEPTIONAL experience. The service was amazing... special thanks to Manager Kim, Server Daniella, Busboy Santos, and Chef Chris! The food was also wonderful. We enjoyed the pre-dinner edamame yummy -- we ate 2 bowls. Our dinners included Macadamia Nut Encrusted Mahi Mahi, Surf & Turf, Roy's Trio (salmon, mahi, mahi & ahi tuna), and a seafood trio. As a special treat, Kim & Daniella ordered 4 desserts for us. The final touch of class was when Daniella asked to take a picture of our celebration and then surprised us with 2 framed photos at the end of our visit. We will definitely recommend this restaurant to our friends & family, and will be visiting again very soon! Thank you Roy's in Rancho Mirage for making our evening so very special!!!

We love Roy's and have been to most of the SoCal locations. This one was bit more exceptional, they made us and our very young children feel very comfortable. Our server Chris was fantastic! Attentive but not annoying. The food and drinks are always very tasty, u must get the chocolate souffles! There is also complimentary valet parking, enjoy!

Wow, maybe I came on a bad night but there is NO WAY this is a 4.5 star resto overall... or maybe this is the best the Palm Springs area has to offer? I've heard of Roy's from previous trips to Hawaii but never went before since there were so many places to eat there! Roy's in Rancho Mirage seemed to have decent reviews here so I booked it for dinner. Service was very good but the food is pretty average. Hubby and I both went for the $35 prix fixe which is decent value for a 3 course dinner with a few options to choose from. Edamame beans come as a starter instead of a bread service. Hubby had the meatballs, steak and the chocolate souffle. Meatballs were tasty and nicely presented on a sugar cane stick but a bit greasy. Steak was OK. I had the green salad with candied pecans to start - very good. My shrimp and squash risotto was pretty good but shrimp were overcooked. The chocolate souffle is Roy's claim to fame... sorry to burst the bubble, but it's a pretty average lava cake in my opinion. It reminds me of the ones that you get at chains like Joey's but better than the ones at Chili's. Seriously people, if you want a good lava cake, it needs to be made of the Valrhona chocolate like the original... then you'll know what I'm talking about!! Anyway, definitely just a 3 star in my books. But after being in the Palm Springs area now for a few days, I'm finding that food is not the strong point of this desert!

Service was impeccable! Our group of 10 was seated right on time and asked for nothing...they can read minds I think. The 2 things that make this a 4 star experience are... The caprese salad. Bland. The prosciutto was fried and tasteless. Then there was the hard up sale of the Butterfish. Then there was the hard up sale on dessert. It got annoying. Good service that went a little too far.

This was the first time I had eaten at Roy's even though there is one in LA and I have been to Hawaii. Ive heard it said that Roys is excellent, and it was! We had made reservations for 6:30 on a Saturday night, we pulled up and valet took our car for us and we were seated immediatley. The hostesses were nice and the resturanut was not too loud or crowded. Our waiter was a very nice older gentelman who was very helpful with the menu and checked back with us frequently but was not pushy or annyoing. I knew that I wanted fish and I had head that the Butterfish was great so I ordered that. I didn't know what wine I wanted though so our waiter made some suggestions and even brought me two tasting glasses to decide which I wanted with my meal. The food was amazing, nothing over or under done with the perfect portion sizes. We also had the chocolate cake and our waited brought us a free pineapple upside down cake! Great overall experience, will definitely go back!

I wish I could give MORE than 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!! My boyfriend and I visited Roy's this past weekend while in Palm Springs. From the moment we pulled in we were greeted by the most warm and friendly wait staff EVER, right down the the two valet attendants! This was probably the best dining experience I've ever had, and my boyfriend even said our waiter was THE BEST WAITER HE'S EVER HAD!!! Our waiter was Billy, he was SO super-friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, funny and warm, and his professionalism was impeccable! He made some really great recommendations (starting with my cocktail-- I had the Hawaiian Martini, which was yummy!), our meal was absolutely delish-- we had the Canoe appetizer platter for two (A MUST!!!!), cilantro and salt grilled shrimp with chorizo rice, and a warm banana bread pudding with caramel sauce!!! We're already looking forward to a next trip to P.S. just so we can go back to Roys!!!!!

I think that the highlight of this night was definitely the prepubescent valet guy wearing a hawaiian shirt and a funny hat, welcoming us to the restaurant ("Aloha! Welcome to Roys"), and offering us a flimsy hand while we were getting out of the car. We were celebrating my roommates 21st birthday at Roys with her family and another one of my roommates. Her dad had called in earlier to let them know that it was her birthday so they put a piece of paper that said "Happy birthday from Roys" on the inside of all of our menus, which was a cute touch. The waiter that we got (David) was hilarious. Not only was he very attentive, but he was constantly making jokes and served as both a waiter and an entertainer. He asked my roommate if she was in palm springs for business, pleasure, or witness protection program. When she told him that she could not divulge that information he proceeded to talk into his shirt collar as if he was a secret agent and continued to do so for the rest of the night. He also asked for our names, but there was a purpose for that that was revealed later on in the evening. For appetizers we ordered Lobster Potstickers and the Shrimp Cakes to share. I thought that the Lobster Potstickers were good, but they weren't anything too spectacular, and I would give them three stars. The lobster inside the potstickers were good, but I thought they could have prepared the skin better. We also tried the Seared Scallops since they came with my roommate's brother and father's Prix Fixe menu. The scallops were seared perfectly, and came in this amazing sauce. The dish also came with different seared vegetables, that were a mystery to us. The vegetables all looked like something else, but when we tried it they turned out to be something different. I think in the end we deduced that the vegetables were artichoke, carrot, and some sort of radish. It was hard to tell because the lighting in the restaurant wasn't very good and we had to use candlelight / cell phone light to figure out that we were eating. For the main course I ordered Honey Mustard Garlic-Charred Beef Short Ribs. This was definitely the best dish of the meal. The short ribs were tender, soft, and succulent, and the mashed potatoes and sauce they served it on complimented the meat perfectly. The only complain I have about this dish is that they did not serve the meat with enough potatoes and sauce. After I finished my first chunk of short rib I was out of potatoes and sauce, which was pretty depressing. However, I would definitely want to come back to Roy's just to order the short ribs. My roommates ordered the butterfish, which I took a bite of. The butterfish was tender and soft, and reminded me of black cod, because it was so soft. I had never had butterfish before and I was definitely pleased with the texture of the fish. Finally, for dessert we had ordered two chocolate souffles on the Prix Fixe menu to share. However, we found out why the waiter asked for our names during this portion of the meal. When bringing out the chocolate souffles, the waiters also brought out four plates of ice cream (for the "kids," though we were celebrating my roommate's 21st) that had "Aloha" and our name written on the sides in chocolate sauce. Not only did they bring out four extra bowls of ice cream but they also brought out a birthday treat for my roommate that consisted of ice cream, two mini chocolate cakes, a candle stuck on the side, and "happy birthday" written on the side of the place in chocolate sauce. The ice cream they gave was delicious, and the chocolate souffle (Which was like a molten chocolate cake) was absolutely amazing. However, it was no different from other molten chocolate cakes I have had before (which doesn't mean it wasn't good, it was just familiar). Another strange thing happened while the waiter was presenting us with desserts. He pulled a camera out of his pocket and asked to take a picture of us. We were a little weirded out by this, but it all made sense when he gave us the picture he too in a Roy's paper picture frame after we had completed our meal. I hadn't had received something like this from a restaurant before so it was definitely a pleasant surprise. The waiter ended the night by handing my roommate a chunk of pineapple that had been soaked in vodka for 3 days. Though it tasted just like vodka, is was definitely the icing (pineapple?) on the "cake" that was our evening. Overall my experience at Roy's was an amazing one. The waiters were so attentive and nice, and the food was delicious. I had also never seen another restaurant that was so good about filling up water cups. I don't the level of my water went below being half full (half empty?). Anyways, I would give the food at Roy's 4 stars, but because of the amazing customer service I had to bump it up to 5 stars. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a birthday or just a night out with friends.

All I gotta say is one word, BUTTERFISH! My cousin and her boyfriend brought me and my fiance here as a surprise for my birthday. They go here ALL THE TIME so I was excited to try it for the first time. To start, we ordered the Canoe Appetizer x2. What a wonderful way to start our meal. Everything was delicious! For drinks, you absolutely have to order their signature Mai Tai. Beware, it is literally pure alcohol. For our main course, we all ordered the Hawaiian Style Misoyaki Butterfish that they spoke so highly about. We were so blown away of how it literally melted in your mouth. This is the best fish I have ever tasted! At the end, they brought me a birthday dessert with a little special message just for me. The service was superb. Everything from the Valet, to the hostess, to our waitress. Very warm and friendly. The ambiance was so romantic, we definitely loved everything this place had to offer. We love it so much, we're thinking about using them for our wedding. You must try. You won't be disappointed.

I've been to several of the Roy's around the country and generally, I've received superb service and excellent food. I was a bit disappointed with this visit because although the service was still superb, the cookery wasn't. We ordered filet mignon (2) and scallops (2). Of the two fillets, one was overcooked and the other undercooked. We can tolerate a slightly undercooked steak (rare as opposed to a medium rare), however, my father-in-law could hardly get thru half of the fillet. It was simply too raw. The other fillet was much less tolerable as it was completely cooked beyond well-done and we had ordered a medium. Our server, once alerted of the dreadfully overcooked fillet, kindly offered to re-do the steak, but my mother-in-law declined and chose to eat the fillet anyway (my in-laws are too shy to return food). Our server, Chris, kindly took the fillet off our bill and his commitment to service really saved the evening! Our scallops were cooked to perfection, but we didn't enjoy them quite as much as we would have liked due to the all too sweet reduction that the scallops were coated in. I think that's just a matter of preference since I generally prefer more savory sauces. Just a quick mention of the appetizers. Their calamari were thick pieces that were soft and lightly battered which were tasty, but left us wondering what was in the pieces besides real calamari because they tasted fake! It reminded me of McNuggets - full of flour and mystery meat. The lobster potstickers lacked any obvious lobster meat and tasted more like pork. The stuffed shrimp was pretty tasty as was the Maui zowie shrimp salad. Dessert was delicious! The citrus creme brûlée was delightful and the chocolate soufflé was decadent. One thing to note is that the soufflé is NOT a soufflé in my opinion. It is really more like a lava cake. Nevertheless, it was still delicious, especially served a la mode! The macadamia tart looked dry but apparently still palatable. Overall, a lackluster performance from the kitchen. However, service is still flawless.

Roy's is one of the best dining establishments in the desert. My husband and I waited to celebrate Valentine's Day until last week end when we were in Rancho Mirage. We wanted to go somewhere special and they did not disappoint in that department. Based on other Yelper's reviews we decided for our first visit we would go with the dishes most raved about, the butter fish and macadamia crusted mahi mahi. Both were fabulous as advertised. On our server's advice we ordered the lobster pot stickers that were also yummy. Great sauce and not too much of a fried dish. For dessert we went with the red velvet cake, which I am partial to, it was moist, with just the right touch of chocolate. Other positives were the great service, nice atmosphere, and good wine list. We will be back.

Amazing service. My husband and I, along with our two year old came in for dinner. I did not realize how kid friendly they were. They had a children's app plate for my daughter mins after we sat. For parents, you know how toddlers need snacks! Our server was great, I had the shrimp salad and my husband ordered the duo mahi mahi and short rib, both were delicious! More importantly I was impressed by the customer service. I highly recommend ;)

Great restaurant for a nice evening out. Valet is available and quick. The feel is warm given the dim lights and cloths on the tables. However there is a bit of hustle and bustle coming from the kitchen. It's an open kitchen so you can see the cooks preparing food dishes waiting to be sent to tables. I personally enjoy seeing the happenings of the kitchen. The service from the waiters was fabulous, he went above and beyond even giving us history on when the first Roy's opened. There is a full bar with plenty of cocktails to choose from. Dinner is served with a flashy presentation of your dish. I ordered the shrimp and crab with sweet potato. It was so pretty I didn't want to eat it, but sooo glad I did! The shrimp was a nice size with a bit of crab with each one. Sweet potato was delicious with a sweet sauce drizzled over the plate. The downfall for the great food and service is that the price is a bit high.

I ordered wrong. Let's blame it on that. Why oh why didn't I order the Butterfish. I love Butter. I love Fish. What is wrong with me? Had the $8.95 spicy tuna tempura roll. I am a big fan of sushi. This roll was tiny and just so-so. I was lured by the miso butter sauce which was also, underwhelming. Went with the Shellfish Combo -- half lobster tail, shrimp, scallop, crab cake with macadamia but risotto. sounds good, yes? Very, very meh especially for the $35 price tag. Lobster tail was tough and swimming in sauce that was not butter so no sweet, lobstery taste. Scallop (1) was nicely cooked but had some sand grit. Two shrimp on skewers were perfectly fine (tail on) but drowned in this same sauce. Crab cake was pure mush, no crab chunks. Risotto was gummy and nary a macadamia nut to be found. A few spears of unannounced asparagus but phooey, I am allergic. Dessert was a highlight. 20-minute (they warned us) pineapple upside down cake with pineapple ice cream. Muffin-sized individually baked cake with pineapple tidbits, caramelized top, crispy bottom. Delightfully pineapplely ice cream, some caramel drizzle, a cute pineapple shaped cookie. Dinner for two with wine and tip was $140. I've done better. PS The service was odd. The waiter was a George Lopez, wisecracking wannabe. Seemed very busy, disappeared for long periods of time, but had time to crack jokes.

The appetizer was fresh. Two of the three entrees at our table were overcooked (and thus dry). The home-made onion rings on my friend's hangar steak were really good. The absolute best part of the meal was the dessert: a chocolate souffle that was probably the best souffle I have ever had.

My boyfriend took me here for a romantic dinner, and it was perfect. All the staff was extremely friendly and the food came quickly. We went on a Friday night and the atmosphere was very nice. My sole compliant was that at the table next to us there was a boisterous child. Roy's is a nice, classy restaurant, please leave your children at home if they can't control themselves.

I went to Roy's for the first time last week and what a GREAT experience! The service was stellar and the food was amazing! Eddie, the restaurant manager went out of his way to check on us several times and even let us come in to sit in the bar area before the actual happy hour started. It isn't often I receive the type of great customer service I did at Roy's, it just doesn't seem like it happens very often anymore and businesses take their customers for granted. As a Marketing professional it is refreshing to see and sometimes the little things can make all the difference. I will be going back for sure and will recommend to friends & family.

This place has the BEST service!!! Our table was a little shakey so our poor server got down on his hands & knees on the floor and spent probably a good 5-10 minutes trying to fix it for us. It didn't really work so he moved us to another table, in another section... but was so apologetic that he sent us a warm chocolate souffle on the house. That, in itself, was amazing. I'm a huge butterfish fan anyway, but Roy's marinates their Misoyaki butterfish for two days. It was amazing, and perfectly cooked. My only complaint was that it may have been a touch on the salty side. Next time I'll just scrape a little more of it off... but it won't stop me from going back again for more!

Yum yum yum. Excellent food and BEST customer service I have experienced in a long long time. From the valet to the table, everyone was extremely polite, thoughtful and made sure we had everything we wanted and more. I had the hibachi tofu as did my sister: delicious!, my mom and husband had two different kinds of mahi mahi: delicious!, my dad had the appetizer boat as his meal and ate everything! BEST PART- my nephew, who is hard to please in restaurants and quite active, was treated like a king- crayons and coloring book/menu the minute he sat down, two minutes later a free platter of quesadilla, veggies and ranch dip, his entree was thoughtfully presented on a cool plate (instead of a heated one- to prevent him from being burned), and his "free" dessert had his name written on it! Throughout the meal our waiter was very attentive, personable, and made suggestions when asked. Oh yeah, the molten chocolate cake- superb! Very, very impressed! My father, who typically is a 15% on the nose tipper, was impressed too and left a generous tip on our $215 bill. We're typically not a family to break $100 for the 6 of us, but he never batted an eye, you could tell he was impressed too!

They have a sommelier! We've never had a bad meal at a restaurant with a sommelier. My husband and I went here for dinner on a Saturday. We had a 7:15 reservation. The hour drive was definitely worth it. All of the staff was very professional. Very impressive. I started with the clam & mussel pot. It came in the most flavorful broth with yuzu. For my entree I chose the trout which was fresh and delicious. My husband had the filet & lobster "surf & turf". His was even better. For dessert I had the yummy mango cobbler & narrowed down the dessert wine to 2. Our waiter then sent over the sommelier which offered 2 tastings, 1 not on the menu. I settled on the Michele Chiarlo moscato d'asti which went perfectly. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that dining room is loud. Our experience really deserves 4 1/2 stars. We'll definitely be back.

I've been here many times and we always have great experience. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and I love everything I ordered so far. They have 3 course fix meal which is great deal. They change the menu time to time so it's exciting to find out what's new every time we go. Deserts are amazing too!

My family of four were in Palm Springs for 3 evenings. Since we don't have too many good dinner choices in my home town, I strategically planned to visit a highly rated restaurant each night. Roy's truly lived up to its high Yelp rating. The food was fantastic, atmosphere buzing with fun, and dessert capped off a great evening. If drink prices were a little more reasonable, it would have earned 5 stars.

For an overall dining experience and value, Roy's is touch to match. Their service is second to none, from the time you pull up to the valet, to the last interaction as you leave. The manager was chatting with everyone and I'm always impressed when the server fills your drink up constantly as it gets low. (I drink water like a whale, so you're talking 10+ refills) We always go with the prefix (more bang for your buck), plus we had a $20 off coupon. It was our anniversary so they were especially nice to us. The ambiance was subtle, yet calming. We started with the scallop and shrimp cake appetizer. Both were excellent, but the shrimp cake was more meaty so I liked it better. We actually got the same entree, the pork tenderloin in a black bean sauce which was recommended to us. It was moist, the vegetables were very good and the sauce was tasty. I've had better pork before, but for the way it was prepared it was good. My wife loves the chocolate souffle, so she got that, while I tried the warm peach tart which was alright. Have I had better food before? Sure, but the experience is why I give it 5 stars. Our entrees took a bit long, but they brought over extra appetizers and it made me forget. It's little details that put Roy's over the top. Whoever runs their customer service training know what they are doing. I'm not interested in owning a restaurant, even less a chain one, but if I was Roy's would be in my top 5.

Roy's is superb, from the service to the ambiance to the food. We came here last week with a group of 10 girls for my bachelorette party. They were so attentive to us that they even color coordinated the napkins white for me black for everyone else and gave me a personalized menu that said congratulations Antonia! Now on to the food. I had the goat cheese topped salmon and it was divine! The fish was so moist and flavorful and the goat cheese artichoke mash on top was to die for. You can sub out the side and get what you want so I opted for garlic mashed potatoes which were excellent. My friend Sarah who sat next to me had the tiger shrimp and they were so good and were served with steamed veggies, my other friend to my left is a vegetarian and they had a special menu for her. She had a stir fry that was so good. All in all an excellent night of fun, friends, and good food oh and booze too!

Another great meal at this Roy's. Just celebrated our 22nd Anniversary dinner and had John S. as our waiter. He made our evening even more perfect. Thanks John and the rest of the staff for making our evening extra special.

Excellent service and food! This was my first experience at Roy's. I had the Roy's Trio with the hibachi salmon, blackened ahi and the misoyaki butterfish. They were all delicious! I tasted a friend's chocolate souffle, it was delectable! I'll definitely check out the Roy's in Pasadena.

Coming to Roy's I had certain expectations just because I had been to several of these locations in the past and had always had a good experience. I honestly don't know whether to give it a three or a four. There were definite highlights and also some low points. Consider this a 3.5. First, the kitchen was incredibly backed up. So much so that our meal (one course, mind you) took three hours. We spent so long waiting and were also with three little kids. I think this was just way too long... something was being mismanaged and it made the whole experience a little less enjoyable. Also, the kitchen kept coming back with a few flaws in the dishes, which was also disappointing. My mother ordered the beet and goat cheese salad... which arrived with no beets. We inquired about this and were then, later, given a small plate with the missing beets. Our waiter was keen to recommend this dish to us and so it came as a bit of a surprise to me that such an obvious faux paux would be made. My mother also got the disappointing end of things later, when at dessert everyone received their order except for her (she got the sundae). By the time she did get it the check had arrived and we were eager to get out the door. As for my own meal, my waiter recommended I get the short ribs when I asked him about that or the filet mignon. Now, the short ribs were delicious and incredibly tender... they just fell apart with a touch of the fork. So that was definitely good. However, the juicy sauce they came in was... barely present. And for me that's the best part about short ribs of this nature, is sopping them up with sauce. Because, as it turned out, they were pretty dry. My meal was good but I know it would have been infinitely better if it had be executed properly. As for the highlights, we brought our own wine and they didn't charge us for a corking fee. Also, the kids SCORED. They were given an appetizer of cheese quesadilla and ranch dipping sauce. Then, their meals came and were prepared to look as nice as ours. Last, they served them sundaes which "magically" came with their names written on the side of the bowl in chocolate sauce. To be honest, I had wished I could have ordered off the kids menu here. The food was good... but I think the night we came the kitchen was definitely having some problems, which made the experience a little disappointing given my expectations. I had a good time here and still enjoyed the food, but I know it could have been better.

Great, very attentive service. Fish entrees were fresh and well presented, however the dim sum appetizer seemed like it was a day old. . . . tough pastry shell and tasteless filling. A real disappointment, given the quality of the rest of meal.

Great happy hour. $5 appies. The Ahi roll with miso butter is excellent. The calamari, potstickers and California roll were very good. Try the Kona beer for $3 a pint. Happy hour is from 4-6pm. Also interesting was the kitchen seating area. Nice watching the cooks do their thing. We (2) went there for dinner. We had the four appies mentioned above as well as a glass of water and a Kona. All for $24. Fantastic deal.

My wife and I were visiting the Palm Springs for the Film Festival and we wanted to go to a nice restaurant. We checked Yelp and saw that Roy's Restaurant was highly rated so we booked a reservation. The meal was outstanding and the service was superb. My wife loves fish but I am not a fan of fish but I decided to venture out of my safe zone and order fish. The waiter was keen to assist and I ordered the Sea Bass, and I have to admit, I actually enjoyed it!!! The mango cobbler with ice cream was a huge hit. Bottom line - an excellent restaurant and it has my five star rating.

Oh my goodness! We finally (after many recommendations from friends) went to Roy's for my birthday dinner earlier this month and I can not say enough how much I enjoyed this restaurant. The food was amazing and the customer service was outstanding. Be sure to save room for desert! We ordered the chocolate souffle with raspberry sauce which was outta this world! My husband and I shared it but trust me when I tell you, I'll be ordering my own next time! Worth every calorie!!!

Roy's is awesome! My wife and I visit as often as we can. We went for our anniversary and started the evening off right with Aloha Hour in the bar before our reservation. Everything is $5, their appetizers, their cocktails, everything and it's all made to order. We sat at the counter and watched Anthony making the Lobster rolls and salads. We ate the Lobster California Roll and Wagyu Sliders and enjoyed a couple cocktails, a Roy's Mai Tai and a "1988". For dinner, the Shellfish Sampler with Macadamia nut risotto was just delicious and my wife enjoyed her Petite Hawaiian Sea Salt Grilled Filet Mignon with truffled white bean puree. Everything was cooked perfectly from the lobster to the scallop to the beef. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Soufflé with vanilla bean ice cream. Since it was our anniversary they brought us a vanilla bean custard with a personalized "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate around the edge of the dish, very thoughtful. Then our waiter "Da David", took our picture with the special dessert. Afterward, he printed it then brought it back in a Roy's frame for us. Roy's is always a great meal and the Rancho Mirage location is one of our favorites. We've never had a bad experience there.

Roy's on the mainland can't ever compare to Roy's in Hawaii. Hawaii's FRESHNESS, clean pure flavors, and sparkling magic just can't be captured here, no matter how hard anyone tries. It's no fault of the chef's. Roy's in Hawaii makes you feel giddy and EUPHORIC...even w/o the cocktails. Okay, that aside, Roy's in Rancho Mirage is perfectly fine. Even great if you don't have Roy's in the islands as a reference point. I love their new Aloha Hour. Mahi mahi tacos, lobster potstickers, ebi roll...all great choices. I also enjoy their Aloha Sangria.

Excellent Iced Tea with Greasy tasteless Spring Rolls. The meal began with three of the worse Spring Rolls I've ever tasted - obviously frozen, bland, and the dragon sauce bottled. Next Mahi Mahi much the same with a sweet corny sauce that distracted from the bland frozen thin slice of fish. The Chocolate Souffle for desert was a frozen Costco Molten Chocolate Cake with the ordinary Raspberry Coulis and really good vanilla ice cream. The desert was good but not a steaming puffy souffle that I expected. I'm glad I stuck to the fixed priced meal as if that wasn't good I didn't want to come back to try the more exotic and pricey dishes. It was only $36.00 but not worth $10. The house red wine at the bar before dinner was terrible so didn't even order a bottle of wine as we usually do with dinner. I won't waste my time going back. The server was very kind and the bus boy outstanding.

I had a really good time here! The waiter is friendly and funny! If this is your first time, the waiter will be happy to recommend some items. Im so glad my waiter recommended the butter-fish!!! =D I had the butter-fish and my husband had the shellfish trio. They are both to die for. It is soooo good! The Butter-fish melts in your mouth and the seafood is really fresh. I was a disappointed with the lobster California roll. I was expecting taste the lobster, but instead I taste mostly mayo from the lobster salad. Overall, it is great experience.

Went here with the whole family, wow what great service. This place is dialed in with regards to kids. If you are looking for a high end restaurant and you happen to have your kids with you, this is the place. Food was fantastic, we had the ahi tuna, vegetarian plate, and the ribs, and the service top drawer!

Once upon a time the experience of going to Roy's was a treat, unfortunately that is all in the past. While the food is acceptable (not bad, just nothing to rave about) the service has fallen to a substandard level. Not bad again, just not as good as we would expect.

Went here this past weekend for our anniversary dinner and because we were staying at a resort close by. I know there are several Roy's around nationwide but the one we went to was in Rancho Mirage. We called in to make a reservation for our anniversary, and it was the same day because we were still deciding which restaurant to go to since we weren't from the area, and we were disappointed with our resort and did not want to eat dinner there anymore. That doesn't give the right for the hostess to make a snide remark about same day reservations though. That was very unprofessional. We got there promptly and was directed to our table. The people that helped us there were nice. We ordered the spring fixed prix 3 course meal which is around $35/person. It was a hit and miss. My husband ordered the seared salmon appetizer, chicken lo mein entree, and chocolate souffle for desert. I got the crispy pork dim sum, hanger steak frites, and also the chocolate souffle. My crispy pork dim sum sounded so delicious on the menu, but when I ate it, I wished it tasted the way it sounds... I really wanted to like it. It inside was kinda cold, and the skin was dried up and kinda hard. My hubby's seared salmon was good though. Then the entrees came, and my hanger steak and frites was good but the portion was kind of small for the price and quality. It's not filet mignon. The chicken lo mein thing was so salty, I felt so bad for my husband because he really can't eat too salty things, and he is too nice to send anything back. There was a big gap between appetizers and entrees, I kind of felt like they wanted us to starve so that when the food arrives, it can taste even better, lol. Additionally, apparently there were a lot of birthdays and anniversaries being celebrated there, and we saw that the couple behind us and also in front of us got special things including samplings of wine, printed picture with a frame and certificate for their anniversary, and desert comes out on a plate with writing and a candle. I was excited to get that, but nope. Desert was brought out normal and no picture or anything was brought out for us like everyone else. I honestly was so sad because we felt like everyone was getting special treatment except us, and we had told the hostess that it was our anniversary and she did remember talking to us on the phone when we saw her. My husband told our server that he had called especially to make an anniversary reservation and if we were going to get our picture taken and printed for us. The server said "of course" and hurried off to get the camera. When he came back he brought the plate with the nice writing with more chocolate souffle.... We had already eaten ours with icecream (souffle was too rich after a while, even with the small icecream ratio) So it was hard to eat even more souffle just plain with no icecream. The server told us he checked the system and it did say that we were there for an anniversary dinner, and for that he yelled at the girls in the front about not telling him about the anniversary and apologized for that. We had our picture taken and printed out, along with a certificate. The price is too high for what is served, especially at this particular Roy's. I don't want to say all Roy's are at the same level as this one, because I have never been to the other one's but it really was mediocre. It was not what you expected it to be, and for the amount of money you spend, you kind of think that the food would be. The server and the manager were friendly and they get one more star because of that. Would I go back here? Not very likely at all.

I've had the pleasure of eating at this Roy's and the one in San Fransisco and have to say that I'd do it at least 22 more times. In SF, we had several excellent dining options one night but my colleague said that she had never eaten at Roy's. That was the deciding factor. You HAVE to eat at Roy's at least once. I think it's a rule. One odd thing about this place is that I don't typically eat fish (which is a long, sad story starting with my grand father who liked to surf fish at night and serve his discoveries to us 5 year olds "fresh" - 'nuf said). However, our table had enjoyed a few (several?) rounds of Saki at the bar while waiting for our seat so when someone mounted a fork with a heap of a fish preparation called Butter Fish I snapped it up like, well, a fish. It was heaven. I've been told that the preparation lasts 12 long days and nights and consists of: soaking in saki made from the Emperor's private rice stash, golden cow butter (left udder only and alternate squeezes) and shards of Crystal Meth (for texture I think) - some ancient scroll reading and prolific nudity often follows in the SF location. That's what the valet told us anyway. Enjoy!

A great experience! Reserved a table for 4 on a busy Friday PM and the place was busy. I'm not a big drinker but my brother said his manhatten was great. Started with the calamari - tender with a slight kick and thai dipping sauce. Two had the fish sampler which was OUTSTANDING and the others had the perfectly cooked rib eye. Dessert was something else - chocolate souffle, pineapple upsidedown cake, coconut ice cream (wow), guava panna cotta with a great presentation. Finally our server, Ray - if you're lucky enough to get him you won't be disappoiinted. Fabulous food, attentive wait staff, and free valet parking....what more can you ask for?

Simply some of the most amazing prepared seafood dishes anywhere. I have been coming here ever since I discovered Roy's in Hawaii Kai in 2006. Both the General Manager and Executive Chef are from the Hawaii Kai location wich results in a quality of cuisine you simply cannot find even at other Roy's locations. They often have fish specials with Hawaiian fish that were caught and flown in same day. It is VERY hard to get Hawaiian fish this fresh, if not impossible. I am rarely disappointed. The Misoyaki Butterfish is to die for and the MUST have dessert is the pineapple upside down cake. I will continue to come here for eternity.

We rounded up to four stars because the service was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The food is good and if you are in town visiting and don't know where to eat Roy's is a solid choice. Our biggest disappointment was that our entrees arrived lukewarm and just slightly warmer. The butterfish was delicious nonetheless and everything was cooked perfectly but I think our food sat at the pass a bit too long....

Was there on a Monday. Busy because they had a pri-fixed deal going on. Had a bottle of sonoma chard, and a couple appetizers to start. Ended up going with the pri-fixed since we wanted to try out 2 more appetizers and a bottle of Napa cabernet. Really good food and deserts. Service was slow, but friendly.. again.. they were super busy. Will definetly go back!

This review is only for the cocktails and one very awesome waiter. I ordered two drinks before I just opted for a dark rum on the rocks. The mai tai and some other lychee drink was just way off and I couldn't drink either of them. Thanks to our smiling waiter, I believe his name was Dar? I didn't have to suffer through these liquid disappointments. He was going to let me order drinks until my taste buds were happy. Third time was a charm though. Thank you, good sir.

Amazing! The food was wonderful! The service was outstanding! I was hesitant to take my son (2 years), but they were all ready for him. They had taken his name when he made the reservation and everyone called him by name as soon as we came in.they had a treasure chest with toys for the children to pick from, as well as a fruit appetizer that was brought immediately to the table too keep him occupied. It was just so nice to be able to go to a nicer restaurant and feel like my child was welcome. You have my business for life!

We had a very nice meal at Roys. My only complaint is the apparent desire to stick with "classic" Roy's dishes. The problem, at least if you live in California, is that many of his dishes have been copied. I can get macadamia nut crusted Mahi any day of the week. Therefore the menu lacks creativity or originality. However the service was excellent (best we've had in a while) and the food was very good. My blackened ahi was a very large portion, spicy as I requested, and nicely blackened (raw center) as requested. Again with the originality though- it came with a side of sticky rice and an unseasoned garnish of slaw and a whole parsnip. (Root vegetable with ahi? Just odd). The ahi made up for it. The butterfish & short rib were outstanding. The sides on this combo were much better. We were too full for desert- and besides my pineapple martini was a good substitute. We will go to Roy's again.

Roy's is absolutely one of my favorite places so I always have to come by when they have one in the city I am visiting and the one in Rancho Mirage did not disappoint. We came by for happy hour and the bar was PACKED! The nice thing is that they took our name down so that we could get the next available seat, it wasn't a free for all which made it classy. During happy hour, the prices are about half off if not a quarter off, which makes the deal even better! Cocktails and appetizers are all $5 each! We really enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. Thank you Roys for always having an amazing establishment no matter where we go!

Great food and excellent customer service. They gave our kids toys upon our arrival.. I thought that was verycool. My kids had customized desserts with their names on the plates.. So cool. :)- oops I forgot my servers name...my trio seafood entree was very yummy but it's a bit small. Husbands entree was big..However since I'm small it was perfect. The pineapple upside down cake was yummy. Very polite valet guys. Humm people here are very friendly.:)-

Incredible service, incredible food, incredible attention to detail. THANK YOU ROYS for making my girlfriends bachelorette party unforgettable! Our table was ready for us even when I called earlier in the afternoon letting them know we were running late. Preprinted menu inserts were in each of our menus congratulating my friend on the big day - nice touch! Little extras were brought throughout the evening to make the night special which was fantastic! The restaurant was PACKED on a Saturday night, but the team at Roys made our party of 6 feel like we were the only people in the room! I've been to numerous other Roys (several in Hawaii, Pebble Beach, SF, etc) and this was by far my best experience. Goes without saying that all the food was on par and quite excellent; the drinks were too. What really made this trip stand out were all of the staff that made the dining experience unforgettable. Thank you Roys for making this occasion extra special. We will return! (Seriously, we will be back...even if you don't want us to be. Ha!)

20 of us came here on a second night after our meeting. Second night of our partner retreat. I ordered the scallops in wasabi mashed potatoes and curry. The table ordered a sample appetizer plate which included spare ribs, lightly salted and grilled shrimp, deep fried California roll, and pot stickers. I enjoyed every one of them. The scallops were cooked perfectly. Grilled lightly enough on both sides to make the scallops soft yet firm. The worst thing you can do is over cook scallops. The curry sauce had a good kick, definitely not your Japanese curry. I started with two goose and tonics which was perfect. Then 20 of us proceeded to drink 25+ bottles of wine. We're such drunks!!

Best service in the desert. It was so nice to have a server that knew the menu, understood food and wine and was actually attentive and prompt. The food was pretty delicious, too-- great apps (lobster potstickers, bbq ribs) and hearty entrees. The room we were in was freezing cold, though they eventually turned off the a/c for us. We also got a real scare when they set up a table of 14 right next to us, but the group ended up being surprisingly quiet. All in all, a great meal!

I'm sorry to say I don't get the hype. I was really excited to taste Roy's "fusion". Soy sauce on salmon isn't really my idea of fusion. Excellent, impeccable service, but super super noisy, dark as hell, cramped tables, overpriced small meals and no wow factor to anything the three of us had. Finally, what is that disgusting poi, grits, mashed potato tapioca pudding texture thing they serve. It's so gross I don't even know what it was. May have been the most disgusting thing any of us have ever tasted and I eat everything! I can't imagine anyone really would like that. Fusion... fail.

I joined a friend for drinks in the bar at Roy's Friday Happy Hour. Wonderful Specials. All $5. per item + drinks. A couple of Mai Tai's later, along with some tasty fusion appetizers and what a deal that was! The Burger Sliders, the Ahi & Lobster rolls - whatever - were perfecto! The Mai Tai's were mixed very well, ladened with rum - best I've had since Hawaii. Go to Roy's website to view the menu. The bar is small, so 1st come/serve. We shared our table like good Samaritans, and had a fun evening meeting other people. See you there! :)

I love this place! I took my wife here for our wedding anniversary and when you call to make an appointment, they ask if you are celebrating an occasion. I now understand why...we got a congratulations at the door, during our dinner from the server, and once more by the manager as we were eating desert. They also take a digital picture at your table and present it to you in a paper frame to take home. Nice touch! Oh yeah, and the food was delicious. The mood setting is a little dim, but nice if you are on a date. Definitely recommend this place!

What a great experience! From the minute we pulled up to the complimentary valet to when they brought the car back A+ service. We had a reservation for 4 @ 7:45 and were a little late, not a problem & we were seated right away. Waitress was wonderful! Bus boys never left are water glasses even half full. We had 2 birthdays in our group & they got special menus with a happy birthday message personalized with their names, cute touch. We tempura tuna rolls, beet salad & Lettuce wraps to start. All were very good. Main courses were the macadamia crusted mahi mahi w/ lobster sauce- excellent! Huge portion of fish & very fresh. The lobster sauce was a great mix of flavors w/ the fish. We also tried the short ribs- tender, delicious yumminess! For dessert we all ordered the macadamia bread pudding- HEAVEN!! The waitress brought out to mini Panna Cottas w/ happy birthday written in chocolate, very cute. The final touch which sealed the deal for the whole table was the waitress took a group picture & returned a few minutes later w/ the picture in a frame. Above & beyond is an understatement. After our HORRIBLE experience at the Roys in San Diego we were ready to right them off forever. Sooo glad we didn't & gave this Roys a chance! If you are in the Palms Springs area & celebrating a special occasion I would highly recommend Roys! We are all ready planning our next trip out which will for sure include a trip to Roys. If not for dinner at least just the bread pudding!

Snowbirds down from SF for a few days, we went to Roy's last night with another couple and enjoyed their wonderful, familiar (been to Roy's in SF) cuisine. The name of the game is presentation. My appetizer of tempura shrimp came wrapped in a palm (?) frond, and it almost looked too good to eat. It was scrumptious. Throw away any expectations for a traditional Japanese tempura; you'll love it nonetheless. We shared the appetizers and took a taste of each other's entrees. I was very happy with my scallops encrusted in macadamia nuts, but I could have been equally happy with my husband's salmon. I'm never disappointed in Roy's food. I will say that the decor here is "old school". Dark and clubby. It appears dated but I suspect it's the feel they're going for. I don't care for it, personally. I think I've been to Roy's in SF only at lunchtime and didn't notice this type of decor, if in fact, it is there, too. Hector, our waiter, was courteous, helpful and friendly- thoroughly professional, a fact which made our dining experience all the better. The downside, I will admit, is the price. I may stick to having LUNCH at Roy's!

Simply put - amazing! Great staff, great food and amazing service. We went there on a Saturday night with our 3 yr old son and they went out of their way to take care of us. They prepared a quesadilla for our son without asking while we ordered and he was able to choose a toy from their toy chest. Calamari and butterfish dishes were the best. We cannot wait to go back.

After reading all of the fabulous reviews I wonder if we ate at the same place? When we arrived without a reservation the hostess almost turned us away, then a manager came over to tell us he'd find room for us. I ordered from the prefix menu...split pea soup, cioppino and chocolate souffle. The soup did not have great flavor. I've had cioppino at many of places (including San Fransisco where it originated) and this was disappointing to say the least...6 mussels, 2 shrimp, 1 scallop and barely any broth. The souffle was the best part of the whole meal by far. My wife ordered a shellfish combo. The menu said "stuffed shrimp" and the shrimp were not stuffed at all. After talking to the manager he said they weren't supposed to be stuffed, just had some crab on top. He had two more shrimp made for us, still not good and NOT stuffed. Very misleading on the menu. Also the lobster tail was tiny! Our waiter barely checked in on us and by the end of the meal completely disappeared. The best service was from the guy in charge of refilling our drinks. Also, the meal took way tooo long from start to finish and when our bill came the glass of wine we ordered was wrong on the bill.

We went a couple years back and never returned. Nothing except the chocolate box dessert was good. The server called us "Hun" and we felt like we were in a NJ diner. The frozen drink had chunks of unblended ice. Don't fall for the hype. It's just another chain. Never again.

Wonderful service, food, ambiance - everything top to bottom! We enjoyed the Prix Fixe menu and took advantage of the byob wine corkage fee free situation. The 4 of us had: Scallops, Tomato/Asparagus(awesome), Shrimp Cakes (awesome) Salmon,Pork Tenderloin,Steelhead Trout,Filet (All wonderful) Chocolate Souffle (MMMMMM!!!!) Peach tart was not the best...the ONLY thing about the whole evening that wasn't perfect.

Can't believe I waited so long to come here. EXCELLENT meal and service. Definitely went all out on the ordering. Hawaiian martinis, lobster California roll, lobster pot stickers, beef short ribs, and the seafood trio with scallops, lobster, and shrimp. The dishes here are creative and delicious. The service was just about as on point as it can get. I will definitely be back here, hopefully much sooner than later.

Maybe I've been going to a different Roy's or something. I actually like this establishment very much. sure it's a little pricey but In my humble opinion it's still worth it. the service has always been great and teh food always fresh and delicious. To be honest, I found this particular Roy's to be better than the one in San Diego or the one in San Francisco. Plus the bartender was really good at mixing their signature drinks. I highly recommend their pineapple martini. They offer valet parking but it's best to just park yourself. It's right across from "The river". if you're on Bob hope just go straight through the 111 onto the parking lot. not hard to miss.

This place has excellent customer service. My husband went in for happy hour and at the time they had only one spot open at the bar. The host and manager both went out of their way to find another chair and squeezed it in for us. This was a great way to show they wanted our business even for happy hour. Been to other places for happy hour with no place to sit and get the oh well you'll have to wait shrug was hosts and managers. Our waiter also gave us exceptional service. The sushi roll (can't remember the name) was delicious! My husband doesn't like sushi and he LOVED it!

I've been to many Roy's restaurants, and while the service here was wonderful, my mahi mahi was a disappointment. It had a strange lobster sauce and was served over potatoes...not a very 'tropical' combination for what I expect at Roy's. The mango cobbler was so so...hard to taste the mango. The mai tais were great, however!

The food was spectacular. Fun atmosphere and comfortable. They were a bit understaffed in the bar, where I ate tonight. Noticed a higher quality of food than the last Roy's we visited (in Honolulu). Looking forward to going back.

The restaurant itself is large and the lighting is very dim. It was averagely loud and the waiters were fantastic. For kids they bring out a free appetizer of quesadillas and green apples. The service was normal but a little more on the long side. I ordered the dynamite(it may have been TNT) scallops. They were around 30$. I though it came with 10 scallops if it was 30$ but only 3 scallops came out with caviar. Not worth 30$. It didn't even taste like seafood. I ordered a scoop of vanilla for desert and that came out and it tasted fine. It was the nicest thing I ate that whole day. They wrote aloha is chocolate sauce on the side of the bowl. Overall the food was not worth the money but the service was very good and the noise level was average. I would not recommend this restaurant though.

First of all, the Aloha Hour is top notch! My friends and I have made Roys our once a week gathering place because not only are the appetizers the best, but the staff knows us by name and even knows what we like to order! Kyle one of the chefs is marvelous. It is great fun to sit at the dining bar and watch the kitchen work! This is a great place for a birthday celebration, they made our special birthday girl feel so special! We love Roys!!

We had an excellent dinner here as a treat from a visiting friend from SF. He had heard of Roy's and insisted on taking us here. I'm glad we were invited as guests as the prices were out of our usual range (at least until I am employed again!). The food and drinks were excellent and the service was too. I had some delicious lobster potstickers followed by the best mahi mahi I have ever had. (It even beat the great mahi I had on a trip to Maui!!). My partner and our host also loved their food, and our waiter was attentive but not intrusive. I would love to go to Roy's again... maybe I can get someone to take me back here for my birthday!

I had the macadamia nut mahi mahi--absolutely delicious. Smaller portion for such a price, but it's a classy joint. Great atmosphere, personable waiter. The pot stickers we got for apps was also very flavorful--definitely had a western edge in the spectrum of east-west fusion.

We went to Roy's on Friday night to celebrate a birthday, and found the service to be outstanding! Gregory, the manager and wine geek, was very knowledgable and personable. The happy hour apps were a great bargain and every person in our party was happy with their meal. I enjoyed the scallops with forbidden rice, and it was perfectly prepared. We were able to sit at the bar and enjoy the entertainment of watching the chefs at work. I would recommend this Roy's for any occasion!

I've been to Roy's on Oahu, Maui, and Newport Beach for many, many dinners and have never been disappointed. This review is for Happy Hour in Rancho Mirage. I've gone twice in the last 2 months. The bar area only has 4 tables for four and 6 - 8 seats at the bar itself. HH starts at 4:30 and the bar fills up fast. I was with a group of 12 the first time, got there right at 4:30, and the staff cheerfully put 3 tables together. The service was very attentive. All appetizers and house drinks are $5--you can't beat that! There are only 6 items on the menu and they're all delicious. My favorite drink is a cilantro-cucumber "margarita." Salt or no salt; I opt for no salt. The bartenders are so accommodating. My friend wanted a special martini with Grey Goose, and it was $26, so I recommend ordering from the extensive house menu unless you're feeling flush. UPDATE 10/13/12 I went with a friend for my birthday dinner, instead of HH. We were able to order a drink ($5) before being seated for dinner (reservation at 5:15.) The bar was packed at 5:00. The cilantro-cucumber margarita is no longer on the menu. The bar menu has changed, but maybe for the better? It was good before. I don't know...we didn't order any food from the bar. Once you're in the dining room, you don't get the special Happy-Hour menu or prices, even for drinks. At 5:00, there was no place to sit, so we were seated at the open-kitchen, and the service was terrific (for Happy Hour.) I t was fun watching a newbie learning to make sushi. Our tab was transferred to our dinner bill. Nice. We both opted for the seafood combo: shrimp (2), scallop (1), 1/2 lobster tail, and a crab cake. I'd never had a crab cake I liked, so I questioned the waiter about it. He assured me there was lots of crab. NOT. It was horrible, and I will NEVER order another crab cake, anywhere, EVER! The accompanying risotto was delicious, but I had reflux and heartburn all night. I don't remember what was in it. It sure wasn't rice. In my opinion, the best part of the meal was the complimentary edemame appetizer, It was nicely seasoned with a good bit of "spice." For my birthday, we were treated to the pineapple upside-down cake (really good) and a version of the chocolate souffle which was more like a brownie. The complimentary photo of my birthday was blurred to the point that I didn't even recognize myself or my friend. I think I'll stick to going at 4:30 for Happy Hour. Valet parking is complimentary.

Celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Roy's. The hospitality, service, and food was amazing. A momentous dinner for a momentous day in our lives. I noted we would be celebrating our anniversary when I made the on line reservation. To our surprise, when we opened our menus, The left side of the menu opened up with a note from the restaurant celebrating our special day. They also sent a congratulatory note written on our dessert plate. We have been to other Roy's Restaurants, but Rancho Mirage provides the BEST service. Greg, Manager of the restaurant came by to ensure everything was perfect. It was! Thanks!!

The best meal that I have had in memory. Service was exemplary. Attention to detail made the food better than great. It was our 25th anniversary and took our special needs son with us. The staff did not miss a beat and accommodated his diet needs. What more could I ask for. Damn good.

Let me front load this by saying I love Roy Yamaguchi's food and restaurants. I have been to several and love the fact that each chef at each location has his/her own way with the menu and yet the menu still retains some of Roy's signature dishes. You always get a surprise, but there are some things that are reliable. Sooo...I popped in here at the end of a VEDDY long day of work in Rialto, the driving to Palm Desert for work the nest day. I strolled around the mall first running a couple errands and working up an appetite. The stopped at Roy's on my way to my hotel. I hung out with a friendly couple and the lovely bartender. I ordered the Hawaiian Poketini, delicious and light. In the very bottom of the large martini glass were diced onions, chives and tomatoes and I found myself wishing they were mixed in with the poke. For an entree I ate pepper crusted sea scallops in a tomato coulis. Again, delicious. However, with both dishes I wish the chef would have relied less on miso sauces. I love a miso sauce, creamy but still light and without all that nasty dairy. However, the sweetness of the miso can be overpowering when both dishes are drizzled with miso sauce. It was a little overkill. I did join the gentleman next door in a Hawaiian martini. Vodka, vanilla vodka and malibu (just a trace of the sweet stuff). This was delicious. Again, it was sweet overload, so with my entree I drank water and saved the martini for dessert. This is shocking and sad. They infuse 4 bottles of vodka, 2 bottles and vanilla vodka and 2 bottle of Malibu in a large jar of fresh pineapple. So, at this Roy's, the awesome bartender has always given the infused chunks on the side of the drink. Apparently, corporate came in the other day and told him this is NOT DONE! Really, they told him, NO MORE. And sadly, he said when the jar is empty they have to throw those chunks away. THEY THROW THOSE CHUNKS AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! What the heeze? He offers them now to his favorite customers on a side plate (only his regulars and they have to request it so he doesn't get fired). Corporate, you are all idiots in suits. This is an amazing bartender who has a lot of repeat business and helps fund your bonuses. You are all tools. Great service, way above par food.

Fantastic restaurant and service. We always come here for special occasions and they make you feel like royalty. They print special menus, everyone congratulates you on your occasion, special desserts brought to the table, etc. Valet provides bottled water! Aloha hour (4:30-6:30pm) is fantastic and everyday of the week! Only $5 for specialty martinis and appetizers. Prix Fix menu is a great value!

Dear Roy's Restaurant, You're the only Roy's location I've ever been to, and I'm absolutely in love with you. You tease me with your deliciously seasoned edamame and fulfill me with your melt-in-your-mouth butterfish. All the while providing me some of the absolute friendliest, most attentive, well informed service I've ever received. Remember that time I showed up wearing shorts? You didn't even blink an eye, you just opened your door to me as if to say "Honey, we're in Palm Springs - of course you're wearing shorts. Come on in." It makes my tummy go pitter patter when you don't let the satisfaction end with my meal, but keep it going with a gooey, moist chocolate souffle and some smoooooth Kona coffee. And I mean smooth, you even serve it at a drinkable temperature - now that's unheard of. If you keep this up, Roy's, you'll forever be one of my stops on any trek out to the desert. Yours truly, Hazel Q. P.S. In case that letter was a bit lengthy, I made some short and sweet notes for you. Thumbs Up: -Better service than 97% of restaurants I've visited. -I can wear shorts and still feel fancy. -Mmmmmm.....butterfish. Thumbs Down: -You do break my heart a little, Roy's, by forcing me to part with more money than usual on a dinner out.

We are a younger couple and were treated very differently than the older crowd. We went to the bar and it took 20 minutes to get our order in. It was happy hour and the waiters did not pay attention to us and the next table to us got excelelnt service we could hear everything the waiter was saying. It was not good and made the experience bad. Will not go back here the one in Pasadena is so nice.

Roy's Hawaiian Fusion is the name, but by the time the food came to our table, I almost forgot Hawaii had anything to do with the food here. We ordered from the very reasonable $35 Summer prix fixe menu. Here's what I had: FIRST COURSE: Nori Charred Yellow fin Ahi, mirrored in a Wasabi Ogo Fusion. SECOND COURSE: Tender Braised Hawaii Kai Beef Short Ribs. Served with a Natural Braising Sauce. DESSERT: Roy's Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé Flourless Chocolate Cake with a Molten Hot Center served à la mode Everything, especially the short ribs were delicious, but there was hardly a hint of Hawaii there. Perhaps I missed it. Heck, I didn't even get an Aloha or a Mahalo when we left. Once we were back outside waiting for the valet to bring our car around, I saw the five or six Tiki Torches lining the front of the restaurant and was once again reminded... Oh, Hawaiian fusion.

The tuna poke is to die for. They so a great job of taking care of kids. The lack of a perfect score is due to the the fact that we ordered the main course over an hour ago and it has still not arrived! It finally arrived and although it was good, it was not great. We waited for over an hour for our food and something, anything, should have been comped. It was nice that they give my kids a complimentary toy, but they should have comped one of our meals for sure.

This place is awesome! The food is very good, always. But the thing that makes it really special is the service. Everyone from the hostess to the server to the busser to the manager were exceptionally friendly and professional. Will always go here when we visit the dessert!!!

9/4/2015 We wanted to enjoy the Aloha Hours in Roy's! When we entered, the Bar was packed. Cameron, the General Manager immediately offered an alternative dining room that provided "overflow" to their customers. We were immediately ushered to a great table. Carlos, our waiter was fantastic......timing our food and cocktails perfectly. He was attentive And helpful. We ordered the Potstickers, Ribs and the Kobe hamburger. All delicious. This meal started the Labor Day Weekend perfectly. Roy's exceeded our expectations! Mahalo Nui

I've always wanted to try Roy's. There one closer to me than this location, but while we were in Rancho Mirage for the weekend, we decided to eat here for my best friend's birthday dinner. We ordered the lobster potstickers, perfect way to start our meal. For our entrees, we shared the misoyaki butterfish and filet mignon. Both were delicious that we finished both. Surprising...considering I wasn't feeling too well. The birthday dessert they brought my BFF was a chocolate souffle and we couldn't stop eating it.... and I don't even like souffle :P Our server, Jerome, was amazing! Very friendly and not the overly cheesy friendly type. He seemed very genuine and was very personable. I wish Rancho Mirage was closer because I would definitely choose this location just because of the excellent service we received. The restaurant is nice and intimate, good for a date night. I will definitely be back to try out the other dishes!

My husband and I had dinner here on 8/28, we had a reservation for 7 and were seated promptly at 7. The service was INCREDIBLE!!!!!! from hostess to wait staff and even a visit to our table from two managers! This was my first visit and I will definitely be back! I had the Hangar Steak with mashed potatoes and assorted veggies. This was a chefs special creation and I understand they have different creations available daily, this is not on the standard menu. The waitress suggested a white wine and boy was this delicious!!!! Wish I could recall her name! She was amazing! Free Valet and the valet staff works hard to not make you wait and they even run to the front door to open it for your party. Excellent experience at Roy's!!!!!!!!

I have been to Roy's for 6 times already but everytime that I go to this restaurant, the quality of food along with outstanding service amazes me... And this is regardless of the location... Everything is superb everytime, all the time, at every location. Tonight we visited their Palm springs location. We were notified by our nice waiter (Carlos) that there is a Prix fixe menu. I chose to try it out and my husband ordered the Rib Eye... The Prix Fixe meal included Heirloom tomato salad, pork and prawn main dish along with chocolate souffle.... Rib Eye was cooked to perfection along with a side of Mac & Cheese.. Our waiter was very friendly and did everything perfectly... He really cared about his customers which was very welcoming.... That is why they get a 5 stars review... This place deserves it.....

Roy's was awesome. From the appetizers to desserts, all the food was perfectly delicious. We had seared ahi and pork/lobster gyoza for appetizers. The fish was fresh and the flavors of the sauces on both entrees was excellent. For our entrees, I had the Pork Belly Laulau (served over crab fried rice with a star anise jous on the side) and hubby had the Rib Eye with Truffle Bacon Mac & Cheese. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly (I have no idea how anyone could say they have thin or cheap cuts here; this was a thick and large cut). My pork belly was sooo tender and the fried rice was basically the best ever. We were so full but just couldn't resist trying the dessert since everything else was so good. Turned out to be a good decision! The pineapple upside down cake was perfect. It had a sticky sweet pineapple top, crispy outside, and warm, moist inside. It is served with a scoop of coconut ice cream. So good! Also, the service was excellent- very friendly, helpful, fast and attentive. SO glad we came here!

Kind of bummed that I have always been wanting to try Roy's and the only good thing about my experience was the chocolate souffle. Coming for an anniversary and food was badly overcooked and staff came by once and when we were leaving I noticed that a table next to me got a dessert that said happy anniversary and no one even asked if we were celebrating anything even though we were dressed very nicely.

Well, it finally happened. I had a meh experience at Roy's. It was bound to happen...husband and I have eaten at this locations and others dozens of times, and it's always fantastic. "Meh" is relative...anything less than excellent at Roy's is meh. Since our other experiences at this location have been superlative, I'm rounding up to 4 stars. In general, Roy's offers impeccable service, fantastic food, delicious cocktails, and luscious desserts with amazing consistency. I guess we managed to catch them on an off night. Maybe I was tempting fate when I strayed from my good-to, the misoyaki butterfish. I decided to try the dynamite crusted Ono, a menu item specific to this location: Ono topped with a mixture of crab and togarashi miso butter, and served with black rice and asparagus. When I ordered, the server asked if medium was okay for the Ono, and I said that was perfect. When it arrived, it was way over cooked--past well. The asparagus hadn't been trimmed properly and I ended up with a bite so fibrous that I couldn't chew it. My husband and I had had a long, exhausting day of lying in the sun at the pool (ha), but we were tired and decided not to send it back and wait for something new. His entree, the Roy's trio, was a little off, too...just not the usual fantastic food we've come to expect at Roy's. The cocktails (my favorite, since they discontinued the ginger martini, is the Hawaiian martini--pineapple-infused SKYY vodka with Stoli vanilla and Malibu coconut rum) were delicious, and the dessert was great. I love, love, love the pineapple upside-down cake. It's a super tender yellow cake topped with perfectly caramelized bits of pineapple and served with coconut ice cream. We'll definitely be back, and I'm sure they'll be back on their game.

Came here the other night after receiving an email for $25 off our dinner. I've been to Roy's a few times, but it had been a while. The menu is pretty similar to what I remember. The bf got the new salt crusted ribeye with the truffle Mac and cheese. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare but it was just too salty for my taste. It has this brown sauce on it too. Then to pair it with Mac and cheese just makes it so heavy and too many flavored going on, but none of it feels Hawaiian to me. A good dish but nothing to brag about. The signature dish of course is the butterfish. While the texture of the fish literally just falls apart at instant touch.. Again it was way too salty. It overpowered the delicate nature of the fish. Good thing there was rice.. Which was of course.. Salted with furikake. Finally the molten lava cake for dessert. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Just like every other stereotypical dessert at a fancy restaurant. While I understand they stick to what they are good at.. It would be nice to see some creativity and more Hawaiian flavors. Maybe instead of raspberry on the dessert.. Guava? Instead of Mac and cheese.. Rice or noodles? I feel their menu has become less Hawaiian influenced and that's a shame.

Yummy way to spend my birthday I had a Hawaiian martini but the best was the 1988 omg to die for drink! My bday dinner was so scrumptious the lobster tail was superb and crab cake was delicious---all the way to the chocolate soufflé.... everything made the night most perfect. Thank you Roy's!!!

We usually frequent the Roy's in the OC/LA area, but I was blown away by the level of service here at the Palm Springs location. From the hostess, to our waiter John, the service was beyond excellent. I'm not sure why the business listing says "no" for kids, but before we were seated, our daughter was lead to a chest full of toys/games she could pick from. They even brought out a complimentary appetizer for her before we even ordered! The food was amazing as usual, and my steak was cooked perfectly. Thank you Roy's of Palm Springs for an unforgettable dinning experience.

I've never been in this Restaurant before, we had a gift card and were in PS for the weekend so we decided to go there for dinner. What a nice surprise when we walked there, the friendly staff offer to my 4yo daughter to choose a toy from a Treasure box; she was super happy about that. I believe our waiter name was Karen, she was very nice and friendly. They offer a complimentary plate of edamame and a cheese quesadilla with veggies and ranch dip for my daughter. We weren't that hungry so we ordered appetizers to share: short ribs, truffle mac and cheese, Caesar salad and ahi poke. They all were good, but I like the most the caesar salad and the mac and cheese! For dessert i wanted the upside down pineapple cake, they asked you in advance because they made at the moment and take about 15 min to make. Unfortunately, or should I say fortunately, by mistake the waiter ordered the chocolate lava cake, she felt so bad about it (i'm pregnant; she re ordered a pineapple cake and gave us both desserts for free!!! Yes we had to wait another 15 min but it was worth it! Both desserts were sooo good! Meanwhile we were waiting she brought a complimentary fruit plate for my daughter with her name write on it with chocolate! Also they gave her the chance to choose another toy. The waiter also asked us if we wanted a picture, i thought she meant to take one with our phone, but no, she brought a camera, took the pic and then came back with the pic printed and framed! I was impressed. Definitely i'll try again this restaurant in OC to compare the service.

Roy's is one of my favorite restaurants. I always order the Roy's trio so I can sample a little bit of everything (salmon, butterfish & mahi mahi). I couldn't decide on a favorite because they're all so flavorful and unique! Make sure you save room for dessert because the chocolate souffle is the best. Its a lava cake with a scoop of ice cream and raspberry drizzle. The only thing I didn't like about this location is that you had to valet park your car. Since I didn't know this, I didn't have any cash. I felt so bad that I couldn't tip the valet! Overall that was the only odd thing about the Rancho Mirage location.

Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. Entrees average about $32, and the wine list goes on forever. I had the Maui Wowie Shrimp Salad, which was perfect, and the highly recommended Misoyaki Butterfish. It is Alaskan Black Cod with a sweet miso sauce. My husband had the Opakapaka (fish) and loved it! If you're gluten-free, they have a menu for that and it is amazing! Super friendly staff! All in, dinner for 3 with appetizer, starters, entrees and shared dessert...(without alcohol), was $187 plus $40 tip. We will be back! Can't wait!

Hands down THEEE best overall dining experience I've had in a while. The service was great and the food was even better. I was taken here by my girls for a pre-bday celebration this past weekend. Our waiter, Carlos was friendly, polite and very easy on the eyes!!! He made sure everything was to our liking. The manager Delphina was awesome as well. She came over to our table a couple of times to check on us and even chatted a lil about nearby nightlife. Anyways, If your ever in the Palm Springs area make it your business to stop by Roy's!!! Thank You For the Great Service

I am a big fan of this Roy's Restaurant, however, over the last six months, I saw some lapses of food quality and service. I am happy to say that we ate dinner there twice this month and both were wonderful experiences. The staff was very helpful, professional and responsive. We had Roy's Trio, Ahi Tuna and butterfish and every dish came beautifully prepared, hot and cooked perfectly. The chocolate lava cakes were the perfect ending to the meal. Manager/owner Cameron and his staff have reenergized this restaurant back to the five stars it deserves. Kudos!!

This place is WAY over-hyped and WAY overpriced. Yes there's lots of rich folk valet parking their big Jags and Beamers, perhaps they have gobs of money to flush down the potty, but I don't. The atmosphere is pleasant, but really, no more so than TGI Fridays. The wait staff strut around acting like this place is vastly superior to anything else in the area, which, ironically, sets one up for high expectations for the food. Unfortunately, the food was below average in quality, but well above average in price. Not a good combination. I ordered two dishes that were recommended by the waiter. First, I had what was billed as "lobster pot stickers"-- an interesting concept. However, the pot stickers were gummy, and the "lobster" filling was GRAY. I asked the waiter what was in them-- it certainly didn't look like any lobster I ever had, and I know lobster, having grown up in New England. The waiter assured me that the gray filling was indeed lobster. Ugh. Then I had a fish entree, a pecan crusted mahi mahi. The fish was average in terms of quality and portion size, but at $30, I expected more. The pecan "crust" was soggy and falling off, and the fish sat atop asparagus spears that were big and clunky and tough. Really, $30 for this entree? I realize that Palm Desert is a long ways from the sea, and I probably should have known better than to go to a seafood restaurant in the desert. Usually Yelpers are spot-on in their reviews, at least in aggregate, but in the case of Roy's I think previous reviewers have succumbed to grade inflation, as this place hardly deserves the rave reviews, if my experience is anything typical.

Pleasant staff, from the hostess, valet and servers, smiles across the board. The food was delicious, probably the best mahi mahi with lobster essence I've ever had and you can't go wrong with the chocolate soufflé, yummy! A really nice touch was bringing out an appetizer for the child in our party, not sure if all children receive an appetizer or if she got one because we all ordered an appetizer but it worked out well. The valet even asked us if we wanted a family photo, a very sweet gesture from a kind man. Thank you for a lovely and delicious dining experience.

Great place....HORRIBLE CHAIRS!! I am not joking, or being over dramatic, they are the most uncomfortable things I have ever sat in. That being said this place, although pricey, is awesome! We had one of the trio specials they had for the summer, so we got to try some fish and steak. We had made reservations under our names and let them know it was our anniversary. Upon arrival they greeted us and had custom made scrolls with our information on them. Offerings like this are what makes a restaurant successful! The wait staff was warm, welcoming and very thorough. We didn't go very long without water or drinks. Their custom made cocktails are very strong and worth checking out! If you are in the mood for upscale dining, I would highly recommend Roy's! Just make a reservation!

Update 08.31.2015: I am updating my review based on the immediate response I received from Roy's General Manager; Kameron. He addressed the issue with professionalism and tact. Roy's is lucky to have the caliber GM of Kameron. Thanks! Look forward to dining soon.

Came here on Valentines and what a complete success! Had the 4 course Valentines special menu, along with 833 Martini. Everything was spot on and seriously ON POINT! The drinks were perfect, customer service, waitresses were all so nice and very professional. Manager came by to check on how everything was, and gave us a $20 gift card for next time we come in for no apparent reason, which was very generous! Valet guys were very quick and nice as well. Will definitely be back for their attentive well mannered employees along with great drinks and food menus. The presentation of the dishes were very elegant and up scale. Totally loved it! I recommend making a reservation before you go just in case, its always seem to be busy. I believe their happy hour is from 4:30 PM-7:00 PM.

This was my second time coming here and I wouldn't be my last! There is so much hospitality, courteousness, and friendly staff. This place has both great food and good drinks along with a whole lot of wonderful service! Our server John, did not disappoint in deliver the service and experience that is so necessary when you have special food like Roy's does. During our dinner Dalphina (I'm assuming manager) stopped by not just our table to see how we were doing but everybody's as well! She was very polite and "genuine" when she was talking to us. The martinis are good, I would recommend the 1988 martini. Our appetizer for two was good, but our little ribs were cold. We didn't say anything about "that". I had the bento box entree which was my first bento box ever; I ate it all. BUT! You need to have their pineapple upside cake! When I took "my-first-bite" of this delicious cake, it was like a party in my mouth and everybody was on ecstasy. That good! I would order it again. Keep doing what you are doing Roy's!

The most amazing dinner experience we've ever had. We celebrated our engagement here and they did the works. From the menu invitation to the ending platter with our names on it. The dinner was SUPERB!! CAN'T GO WRONG WITH ANY CHOICE HERE. Great dinner items.

We have dined at various Roy's over the years, in particular the Maui and Oahu locations, but others as well. Overall, we have never had a bad experience at any of their restaurants, so I don't know why I basically ignored their Rancho Mirage location for so many years. Maybe it was because there are such a large number of mediocre, lackluster, grossly over-priced dining establishments in the desert that I didn't want to know that this Roy's location might fall into the same sad category. However, over the past year, man! Have I rediscovered Roy's! We've dined here probably five times in the last six months and have never left feeling anything but complete contentment. This Rancho Mirage location absolutely has their act together, in every respect. Cameron, the manager, was trained at the original locations in Hawaii, and he has brought his expertise and A-game to the desert. This place rocks! From the moment you arrive you're greeted by the friendly valets, then on to the warm reception at the hostess stand...those are just the opening acts, the warm-up, for what's in store. Next, the excellent and knowledgeable wait staff will satisfy your every request and the bus staff keep plates cleared and drinks refreshed. The food is always prepared perfectly - at least that's been our experience. I do feel qualified to render that glowing assessment due to the number of my recent visits as well as the vast array of ordered plates at our tables over the months. Each and every time our dining experience has been perfect. This can only be the result of incredibly excellent training from the cooks to the staff working the front of the house. It's a beautifully choreographed event, every night. Can't really recommend any particular dish - just close your eyes and point to any menu item. It's ALL good, you can't go wrong. Why can't every restaurant operate like Roy's Rancho Mirage? Cameron, the manager, should be lauded and applauded, for creating, what is to these eyes, a nearly perfect restaurant.

First time at Roy's this evening...will for sure return! Joe, our waiter was awesome! He was very pleasant and attentive to our needs! Joe recommended dishes that were perfect. Kenny prepared our sushi rolls perfectly! When you dine at Roy's, ask for Joe and make sure Kenny is there!

Have been to Roy's about half a dozen times over the years both here and in Hawaii. I have always had a really good meal and this time was no different. I had the butterfish and it was excellent. Service was great. We started early so the restaurant wasn't too busy but there were a number of people enjoying happy hour in the bar prior to dining. A sensible strategy if you are keen on a cocktail at reduced prices. Will definitely be back to Roy's.

Everybody likes Roy's, amiright? With Asian fusion and a bit of Tiki bar and upscale steak and seafood house thrown in, it can make for a fun night. True to form, this Roy's is very nice inside, and so you can feel classy just rolling in your Tommy Bahama's shirt. The service was excellent--even the valet went above and beyond. However, some menu items under-delivered. My girlfriend's pomegranate martini so heavy-handed on the simple syrup it was undrinkable. But the awesome rib appetizer was a winner, and the house wines under the Roy's label were well priced and very good. The big problem? The steaks. Simply avoid them at all costs. My girlfriend and shared a rib eye, and it was terrible. Fatty, sure. But at the same time, very tough--owing to a thin cut of meat with a quality that shouldn't belong in a place like this (and in an area rife with good steakhouses). Having tried a few bites before giving up, I suggested they bring me a petit filet to replace my portion (my girlfriend didn't want to wait). Sadly, it was very thin too, which meant it was cooked well done instead of the medium rare I ordered. Typically, when a customer has an issue, it's best to over-deliver on the replacements. I had eaten much of the sides from my original meal, so they brought the replacement steak cowering on a large, ungarnished plate, making it look more forlorn than it tasted. While wonderfully pleasant, the manager didn't exactly reestablish customer trust. So I'll go back to Roy's, but perhaps only in Hawaii, and only for the appetizers.

The chef does a really good job. The service here is awesome. The bartender Joe stands out to me. He's a real delight. Always smiling, you can tell he enjoys his job and is always taking the extra step to make sure we have a special night. One of my favorite restaurants and bartenders in the valley. I eat here often.

Went in with my girlfriend & was very pleased- our server Karen made the night. She was very attentive & incredibly friendly & bubbly. Wasn't a fake attitude either- she was genuine. She knew the menu & checked on us regularly. We had Butterfish & Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi- both were very good. Drinks were good as well. We will definitely go back & request Karen- ask for her Yelpers! Only complaint: it was hot in the restaurant- management needs to lower the air. We DID NOT mention this to Karen.

I am still a fan of Roy's good happy hour drinks and a great price for Bar menu and especially the Fabulous Wagu Burger.. But recently on a visit my mouth dropped to the floor to see the change in the Ebi Roll which has suddenly lost 75% of it's size. It was one of the best things on the menu .. when it came I did a double take the roll is about the size in diameter a quarter. That in itself would do it for me a perfect meal. I was forced to order another item on the Bar menu and chose the Samosa's with a chicken filling. They were tasteless with a unrecognizable paste for the filling. The whole experience was for me not a good one this time. Of course my husband was in heaven with his Wagu Burger... It is the best ! ! I couldn't duplicate it if I tried. Please Roy's bring back that great EBI ROLL

Roy's is easily one of my favorite restaurants on the planet. I always have a great experience. From the service to decor to food, everything is great! I have tried many things on the Roy's menu, but these are my main go-to's: Appetizers: Lobster Pot Stickers with Miso Butter Sauce Pork Belly Dim Sum Lakanilau Sushi Roll Salad: Roy's Wedge Salad Entrees: Misoyaki "Butterfish" Braised Beef Short Rib Dessert: Chocolate Souffle Bread Pudding Obviously, I don't order all of this everytime we go, but a variation. And it never disappoints. Roy's is somewhat of a high-end restaurant, so it's not cheap, but you can go whether you want to splurge and get a lot, or just go for the Happy Hour and spend a few bucks. I'd recommend the following locations: 1. La Jolla (Best Roy's in my opinion) 2. Palm Dessert 3. Anaheim The one in Kauai was not that impressive. If you are near a Roy's you've got to check it out!

One of the finer places in the Desert! Great food, nice atmosphere and fun drinks. Service was excellent. We went on a Monday Night and were surprised to see how full the place was. I guess they run a Monday Night Special that is very popular. They have something for everyone. Steak, fish, chicken, you name it. Loved their brad pudding!

My husband and I came here to celebrate my 30th Birthday on 3/9/15 and we were not disappointed in any which way. We were greeted warmly at the host stand with a "Happy Birthday" right away. Arriving 20 minutes before our reservation time, we got to try their Happy Hour and luckily for us, 2 spots opened up right at the bar. Service was prompt and the Mai Tai's and sushi roll was wonderful. I would come back just for HH, again. We were taken to our table in a quiet spot at the back of the dining room and I was surprised to find a "Happy Birthday Haley" on the inside of the menu! Nice touch. Our server, Karen, was excellent! She made great recommendations and took our picture at the end of our meal to have it printed as a keep sake to take home! I had the Fish "Trio" and my husband, the Ribeye, both were delicious. Do yourself a favor and order the Chocolate Lava Cake that takes some time to make as your dessert, you'll thank me later. On another note, we were greeted at the beginning of our dinner by, I want to assume, the manager, Delhani (spelling?) who went out of her way to make sure we were having a nice evening and even walked me to the ladies restroom, making small talk (instead of pointing me into the direction) and chatted with my husband and I for a few moments. She was fabulous and gave a new meaning to "Great Customer Service". I thank her and the rest of the staff at Roy's for such a memorable night! I can't wait to return.

A gem and dream come true! I think we found the best happy hour in town. Amazing gourmet cocktails for very reasonable prices. The appetizers were also good, we loved the chicken curry one, wow....... My favorite was the mai-tai, made fresh and super good. The staff is amazing there, very attentive and super nice. The management even came by to make sure we were happy........we were amazed about how happy we were. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area........and its even worth a drive over.......just get there before 7pm to get the happy hour prices ....

4* Roy's Palm Desert 11780 Hwy 111 Complimentary valet parking ($5 ;-) The staff is excellent, all the way from the valet parking persons to the sushi cook Aloha Hour (happy hour) is one of the best Roy's gets it in terms of attending to customers' needs; not just a place to eat and run Upscale ambience; love that the counter service is around the kitchen, not the bar One can watch Araceli performance as an artist and surgeon preparing the various dishes; how she perfectly slices the tomatoes and avocados is amazing The clientele is even friendlier than most places However, the happy hour small bites are overpriced; most are $7 Gyoza (4 pcs) was tasty Pork bun (2 pcs) were stylized underwhelming The Wagyu burger and onion rings were excellent ($10) The pineapple upside cake a la mode is awesome HH drinks are a great value for both wine by the glass (Joel Gott sauvignon blanc) and $3 Kona Fire Rock PA Last comment: the kitchen is kept spotless Although not intimate, nice place to take a date

We had heard about this restaurant for years and finally decided to give it a try with another couple who had eaten here before. Perhaps our expectations had been raised too high, but we were disappointed. The food, although good, was not outstanding. Our friend had to send her calamari appetizer back because it was as tough as leather. Service was slow and almost inattentive at times. Our table, toward the back of the restaurant, was quite noisy and made it difficult to enjoy conversation. We may give this restaurant another try, but not soon. Our friends apologized to us for the experience; they were disappointed as well.

Amazing happy "aloha" hour. You must sit at the counter next to the bar, where you can watch the kitchen make your food. It was an entertaining experience and was fun to see how much work was put into the food we were being served. We were incredibly shocked as to how much work was put into our 6.00 happy hour roll. The only negative was the spring rolls. My boyfriend is vegetarian and I felt so bad for him as the fish/ sushi was amazing but these spring rolls were sad and bland (really looked like a giant oily eggroll). Saving grace was the molten lava cake! It's not a successful roys dinner without a lava cake :)

I went on a Wednesday night and it wasn't too crowded. Previous times, it has been very busy with a long wait. I generally never make reservations. It's best to call ahead to see if they have specials for a certain night...when they are crowded or on the weekends. As a single party, I was offered a table, but I opted for the kitchen bar. I was greeted quickly when seated and I ordered the lobster potstickers and the scallop entree. I hardly had the chance to catch up on my emails when the appetizer was served. The texture and flavors were yummy. The 5 servings were a good start to the meal. I enjoyed the dough and the sauces. I couldn't get enough, even though the lobster hardly had a flavor. The sauce had more of a hint of lobster. Quickly after, I received the entree. Three scallops were served on individual towers of greens, pork and a mashed starch(maybe potato or yam?). Each scallop was firm and slightly caramelized with the meat. Very tasty bite fulls, especially with the fresh greens. As for presentation, each dish was lovely to look at and easy to eat from. Overall, the service and my waiter were very attentive. The environment was upscale and clean. My only complaint was price. It was a bit high for the quality of the above average meal. But one may have to expect this from this specialized restaurant chain.

I ordered Caesar salad and Roy's Trio. I asked for a side of anchovies for my Caesar salad and was told they don't have any. Typically a good restaurant that serves fish has them, epecially a place serving Caesar salad! That was a bad sign, in my book. The salad was mediocre. With the Roy's Trio I found the butterfish to be the best tasting fish of the three types served. The salmon and Mahi Mahi were overcooked. My husband ordered steak which was perfect. I know what to order at this place, if we go again. Simply the butterfish and steak. Not too impressed.

Always a fan of Roy's. So had to give this location a try when we visited the Palm Springs area. Of course, we had to have the Hawaiian Martini. Excellent as always! Calamari appetizer was very good. Sweet chili dipping sauce made it. Entrees were the salmon and the bone-in ribeye. My wife enjoyed the salmon. My ribeye was cooked medium rare as requested but I found the Peppercorn Shoyu Brandy Sauce too overpowering and salty. If ordered again, I would ask for the sauce on the side. The side dish was the truffled bacon Mac and Cheese. Just WOW! Server was great. Entrees were very slow coming out. They gave us a desert as an apology. Had to take that to go, though. Too full!

Palm Springs - Restaurant Week June, 2014! Great opportunity to indulge at several prestigious restaurants that would otherwise be expensive to justify on a regular basis. Concentrated prix fixe menu for 3-course meal so we selected for appetizers) Calamari & Wedge Salad, both were delicious, then for entrées) Petite Filet & Mahi Mahi, both flavorful and tasty and dessert) two Chocolate Soufflé. Overall dining experience was excellent, staff is extremely professional, courteous and friendly. Décor and character is Hawaiian leisure yet classy and the only difference between this restaurant and other Roy's is that they do not serve sushi or sashimi because of the heat. It's a wonderful place to definitely celebrate any special occasion.

Ok, so if you visit the Coachella Valley area and do not eat at Roy's.... You're an idiot. I've been an idiot for the past 5 years! Tried this place for the first time and I'm going to place it in my top 3 places I have ever eaten. Right up there with Nobu. This place was so good, we went back a second time 2 days later. 5 swords in all of the following areas: Food, Service, Atmosphere, Cleanliness. First off, the service is above and beyond. All of the staff seem happy and genuinely want you to enjoy yourself and your meal. I want to call out our waiter Ray and say that he is hands down the best waiter I've had. The food, is amazing. I'm not going to cover everything we ordered, bc we tried A LOT of different plates, but I will say that it all was very tasty and well prepared. The one plate that was the standout dish for me is the Black Cod or "Butterfish". If you go, you MUST order this. If you don't... You're an idiot, and I was an idiot the first visit even though it was recommended to me. Great atmosphere, very busy, but people are not rushing around and everyone is having a good time. The one thing I really like is the open kitchen so that you can watch everything going on if you so desire. Lastly, clean bathrooms. Like I always say, clean bathroom means clean kitchen. I've since learned that there are many Roy's around the country and I've heard that they are all very good.

Michelle was great with our son. It was nice to have a really nice dinner with the kid in tow. They gave him a toy from the toy chest and quesadillas, fruit and veggies to snack on when we arrived. Food came out pretty quick and was delicious. Such a nice evening out.

Unlike other ROYS, this establishment offers HAPPY HOUR 7 days a week. Drop in have some fun. Grab a 1988 Martini, some Lobster Potstickers and let the fun begin.

Let me first say that Roy's is a place that everyone should experience no matter how far away they may find themselves from this location. It is well worth a 100 mile drive or a quick flight into Palm Desert just to envelop the charm and charisma of this establishment. The manager, Delfina Zarate, was only surpassed in her pulchritude and charisma, by her managerial skills and impeccable professionalism. The serving staff was attentive and well-versed not only in the menu, but in the understanding of the clientele and their needs. Our waiter was courteous, responsive, and very attentive. I have never been to a place that treated my children with so much reverie and respect until we patronized this establishment. Although we were on vacation, and dressed "down," we were treated as if we were celebrities. There was no "judging a book by its cover." We were asked about our experience, the quality of food, and the level of service, but not in a clinical way, rather a hospitable manner that made us feel as if we were in a family environment. We not only ate there Friday night but also Sunday night. The Mahi-Mahi with macadamia nut encrusted topping was surreal. My wife had the peppered rib-eye steak. My son had TWO servings of the salmon and my daughter was enthralled with the teriyaki chicken. They offer children a "treasure chest" from which to choose. I am enamored with this restaurant, YOU MUST COME HERE!!!!!

Service attentive and friendly, but not a bother. We had hangar steak, braised short ribs and Roy's trio. All cooked perfectly. Everyone would order again. Shared tempura vegetables. Marvelous sauce. Pineapple cake and chocolate soufflé. Great experience! Ask for Michelle to serve you!

This place is really good mostly because the staff tries so hard. Very family friendly in fact please bring your kids. My two boys and I visited for dinner during our last day of vacation, I'm glad we did, they got to each pick out a brand New toy from a treasure chest (not super cheap plastic but maybe $5-$10 iPad/android interactive toys and small cute plushes) the kids chicken nuggets are very very good the fries are terrible. the kids butter cheese pasta is just exactly that (my kid loves plain so it was good for him I didn't care for it) I ordered the butter fish it was so delicious literally melts in your mouth. like I said the staff tries very hard... too hard? we had a little mishap with a glass of water but with the temperatures in the 100s and half the guests in laid back attire it was no big deal. Kinda pricey, for a one time vacation dinner come here

Roy's is mediocre. If it wasn't for the complimentary valet, and exceptional service, this chain location wouldn't get more than two stars. The calamari appetizer is worse quality than TGI Fridays. The mahi entree pretty delicious, but the sides taste like overly microwaved last minute scraps. The pricing was pretty good though. 3 people, 2 bottles of wine, $200. Good enough, didn't knock my socks off.

We love Roy's and eat at several other locations. We go to Maui for a few weeks each year and find us eating less at Roy's. Food is fine , but we are spoiled by the service we get here in the Desert. Never doubt that food tastes better when everyone is making sure you are well taken care of. This Roy's is our favorite and if you have not eaten at the bar with Kitchen view it is a must . I get tired just watching them work. Can also, just have drink and appetizer there before dinner. We have eaten at this location a few times and it is usually very good. This was the first time that I tried the bone in ribeye and I probably would not do it again. It is a relatively thin piece of meat so I think that they may be inconsistent in how they cook it. I asked for medium and what I got was rare. I normally do not send anything back and will just deal with it but it was really rare! I asked to have it re-heated and then until-surprisingly it came back done...real done....disappointing but it still had decent flavor and was eatable. The rest of my family enjoyed their meals.

Roy's is so consistent through the years and across different restaurants in different cities. Ribs and lobster pot stickers are a favorite and you can't go wrong with any of the fish . This is a perennial favorite. If you've never been, go hungry and order an extra appetizer to experience all the great flavors and cusine. Service was also very good as usual.

First and foremost I want to recognize the amazing service this place provides. Being in the service industry ourselves, customer service is very important to us and this place has their act together! Carlos is one of the best servers we have encountered anywhere. The food never disappoints and the restaurant itself is very pretty. Happy Hour is awesome but get there early because its also very popular. $3 Konas!

Not great - no comparison to other Roy's I've been to in the past. All fish we ordered was dry and over cooked. Way too expensive for poor quality food.

From the moment we walked into Roy's, the service was impeccable. John Stice is an awesome waiter and all his suggested items were out of this world. We will definitely be back sooner than later. Also, they have a great Gluten Free menu that worked well for our son.

This is my favorite place to eat. Optional free valet at the door. (don't forget to tip on the way out!) I rarely sit in the dining room, but I have before. Servers are very professional... They are pretty upscale. (they give you dark napkins if you're wearing dark colors, light napkins if you are wearing light colors... never let your glass get empty... good things like that) I love their bar. I mainly go for happy hour, which starts at 4:30. They have a ton of mixed drinks and small plates for $6. Even though their prices are discounted, you still get the same great attention as the dining room! I have a few favorite employees who work there, and they ALWAYS go above and beyond any service I've personally seen in the valley. Kameron and Eddie (managers I assume...?) are super cool. They always check to make sure your dinner/happy hour is good. If anything is wrong, you can expect it to be fixed immediately. Joe (Not sure if he works there anymore) and Dar are the BEST bartenders... If you go in, order a Dar-Tai. Dar makes his Mai Tais a little different than standard.... The regular house mai tais are delicious too though. The coco frappe is my second favorite drink. It's on the "low calorie" menu, but it does not lack in flavor. I think it is coconut milk, rum (pretty sure), and cinnamon on top. It's served on the rocks in a stemless wine glass. The Short Rib Tacos are awesome. I think the shell is Taro root? And there is Kim Chee on top... So good! Lobster Potstickers are great... They are so rich and buttery. I would eat these every day if I could. I'm not big on fish, so I usually stick to steak. The Filet Mignon is worth trying. Their steak temps are always right on, so you never have to worry about sending it back because it is over done. The dessert menu is SO good. Some desserts take 20 minutes for prep, but they'll remind you about that when you go there... I can't remember what it is exactly, but they have a macadamia (torte??) dessert that is my favorite. When I looked at it on the menu, it didn't seem like something I would like... But it was my birthday and they brought it out for me on the house. This is a great place to celebrate. I don't know if they still do this, but they will take a picture for you (on their camera) and print it out. They stick it in a little frame, which is really cute. I have a few of them around my house LOL. Anyway, this is the best place to eat in the valley!

Had a great dinner here last night. My mom and I went there for dinner last night. She ordered the butterfish and I ordered the prime rib. The prime rib is one of the best I ever had! It's very juicy and the meat is so tender! My mom had the butterfish. She didn't really like it because it was too little. She said the sea bass was the best fish you could get there! The service was decent our waitress was very impatient when I ask her to bring little things like straw, salt and pepper shakers. All in all the service was decent. The food is amazing! A great place to go for a nice dinner!

Portions are on the small side so don't come famished. We had the salmon at $28 and it was tasty. The only reason we really stop by Roy's is for the pineapple upside down cake which never disappoints. They have to bake this desert for a bit so order with your entree. Decent atmosphere but doesn't warrant the pricey menu.

This is truly the finest Roy's I've been to. Of course the food is outstanding, but it's the amazing staff and level of attention that makes this establishment a 5 Star Winner. The staff seem to be very aware of what the patrons' actions and try to anticipate their every need. Example: When I sat down at the bar, I had trouble locating the "purse hook" in the dim light - After barely a second, a female team mate rushed over (out of no where) and helped me. Another time, I may have had a vapid look on my face as I was wandering towards that I thought was the Ladies' room and (again) an employee appeared at my side and helped to escort me to the wash room. Naturally, you'll want to know about our meal - was it worth it? YES!!! We had the butter poached lobster with petite filet and also the ribeye with trouffle bacon mac & cheese. Portions aren't HUGE, but more than ample. You could even share, but you won't want to :) Both steaks were served perfectly cooked, to our liking and came out sizzling SIZZLING hot. The lobster was tender, juicy, and ever so fresh. My trouffle bacon mac & cheese came out with a delicious, crispy golden brown topping. The food and service is so awesome, my meat loving SO was charmed into eating edamame.....I waited until later to tell him he was munching on what they make tofu out of, LOL.

Took my husband for his birthday.....Our waiter was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. My husband loved the mac and cheese as well as the scallops. The wedge salad was excellent. I ordered the filet with mashed potatoes, which tasted wonderful, but unfortunately the filet still had the membrane in it which ruined it for me. Most upscale restaurants make sure that is removed so that it will melt in your mouth. One of the managers came to our table to thank us for coming and wished my husband happy birthday. She is a great asset to Roy's. The valet was wonderful and went above and beyond to assist us.

I love Roy's wherever I go. Been to many in different citis but this one had the most exceptional customer service. We came with a big group as we were attending a conference nearby and they got everyone's orders correct:) someone was checking on us constantly and taking care of refills. My all time fave dish is the filet mignon with fire dragon shrimp. Overall great experience and kudos to the staff and management for making dining here such a pleasure.

Roy's is a good standard for a fancy night out. I have to really be in the Hawaiian mood though. The mai tai is classic though. We went here for a holiday dinner, make reservations to get a good table, however walk ins don't take too long(we were seated in about 10 mins). The Pineapple upside down cake is a must.

Probably my favorite upscale restaurant in the Coachella valley. Love the attention to detail and the rooms are spacious with a great sit and watch bar area where you can see the experts at work making sushi, salads and entrees. We go here for my birthdays too as this is not only a special occasion place but an easy breezy sit at the bar bar and enjoy happy hour and nosh around a bit.

Love this location; we come here every time we head out to stay in Palm Springs. The wait staff is amazing and does a great job catering to our 3 year old daughter. The food is always perfect; we normally go for whatever the rotating chef special is. No doubt t this will continue to be a staple of our Palm Spring stays.

If I had one last meal on earth, it would be at ROYS! I love this place and would go every night, if we could! Happy Hour is the BEST. They have it everyday from 4:30-6:30. My favorite drink, the 1988, hence the year I started dating my husband.. ;-)

I think this place has one of the best Happy Hour menu I have found here in the desert. I'm a fan of the mile high wagyu beef burger with the onion rings and the call drink selection at $7.00 is more than reasonable. The sushi rolls are 2 to choose from and a good choice also. The best part is the bar staff. Those guys are congenial and fun and make a mean drink !

Monday, November 4, 2013 This was my first experience with Roy's, and that initial impression can often predict how things will go. This place is beautiful. Everyone from the guy working the car valet (free) to the floor manager had that genuine welcoming persona. Our waiter was kind, warm and a comedic master of ceremonies. He knew his stuff. Monday is prix fixe menu night, $30.00. All I have to say is, MISOYAKI "BUTTERFISH". Forget about anything else. We had friends with us who are very limited in their dining choices. They are meat, French-fries, white bread and butter type of people. They ordered the BEEF SHORT RIB BI BIM BAP and the BRAISED SHORT RIBS OF BEEF. The best they ever had. My lady friend had TEPPANYAKI SHRIMP. Of course we had dessert! We shared vanilla pudding and some death by chocolate thing. Roy's is the real deal.

Sometimes you leave a restaurant having spent too much money for mediocre food, this place is not one of those instances. You'll be delighted by their appetizers, impressed by their entrées and leave wanting more of their desserts. In total, I can't wait to go back to this restaurant. Everything I ate tonight was just pure delicious. As if the food wasn't already amazing, the service was equally on par. Food portions were slightly on the smaller end but the flavor made up for that. Try the tuna and Cod, they're a must! In summary, if you like great service, love seafood and want a good evening, go there now! Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Drinks 3.5/5

When we arrived, we were seated promptly. They even greeted my friend by her first name since she was the one that made the reservation. Each of us got the 3 course prix fixe menu. The short rib spring rolls didn't have much meat inside of them and were pretty mediocre. However, the filet mignon was incredible. The meat was tender and flavorful. The desserts we had were both delicious. Short rib spring rolls: 2/5 Filet Mignon: 5/5 Dessert: 4/5 The prix fixe menu is $40/person. When we arrived at 7pm on a Saturday it was pretty packed. However, we made a reservation so we didn't have to wait at all. Large parking lot in the back but you can also valet your car. It's not too far away from Palm Springs, so you can stop by here if you're vacationing in Palm Springs. The service was impeccable and the waiter kept checking up on us. I will definitely be back!

You will have to check the dates on these pictures as they are so ole that the present staff is not even familiar with the items.. She we arrived for a late supper we where rushed to the lounge for the "Harry hour pricing" only to find the service to be awe full. We where never served by the same person twice and when the Sushi arrived the warning signs went off, the server explained to be careful enough because the plate where hot. Yes hot, with sushi on them. So sad, this was our special night out and based on our experience we will NEVER go back or recommend. Sorry to the staff that makes their living on the food but not satisfied in the lest!

It's sad to give Roy's anything but a 5 star review, but alas I have to do so. The food was wonderful & beautifully presented. But, the service was abysmal. Our waitress didn't know the menu and was unable to answer the most basic of questions regarding it. She never checked in on us and our glasses went empty, all the while she was taking photos with customers and acting as if she were a guest and not the employed. When it came time for dessert, we waited for 45 minutes. Each time we inquired into the status of desert, the answer was different. In the end, the dessert never came and we left saddened and dismayed by the service. We've been to multiple Roy's and it was always our favorite, but now that's up for debate.

BRAVO! We've had dinner here at least a dozen times and thought it time I share some of our favorites... We generally make reservations online or call in before we show. They are usually busy during season, so this is just good practice during the busy time. We love sitting in DAVID's section. He makes the experience entertaining, seamless and gives great recommendations. During our recent visit we were introduced to the new CUCUMBER GINGER martini... YUM! Very refreshing. Sorry Hawaiian Martini, I've found a new favorite. If you are a group of 4 or are hungry then I recommend starting with the Canoe Appetizer which is a sampling of 5 items. The Menu says its for two, but it is a very filling appetizer. My go to for main course is the Scallops, but we also love the Sea Bass or filet with spicy popcorn lobster. Mahalo, Roys for a fantastic experience. We'll see you again.

An exceptional experience. A well thought out wine list with great balance. The menu was structured with both favorites and newer creations. The food as always was excellent in preparation and presentation. What made this an experience to remember for the family was the service. My daughter when making reservation had informed that we had sold our home and this was a celebration. Staff prepared a scroll in the menu celebrating our event. Our waitress was excellent - prefect comes to mind as a description. I also want to mention the manager. It is rare for managers to work the tables. She spent time with each table. Her pride in her staff and the Roy experience was exciting to see. I am committed to Roy's

As usual, Roy's outdid themselves with their 4 course meal for New Years Eve 2014. The filet was like butter.....fabulous and the mushrooms - delectable. Justin Cab Red Wine was the perfect match for the steak. 2 of my companions loved their meals also. The pock chop was so tender and huge!!!. The Choc lava type dessert to die for. Chris was our server along with his helper who I have forgotten her name were outstanding in their service to our table. The peanut butter and jelly dessert was very interesting and good to share due to it's richness. Love this restaurant!!! Think this is one of the BEST in the Valley if not the best. Never been disappointed ever. Their Happy Hour is not to be missed.

Roy's did not disappoint tonight for our 9 year anniversary. We had the Roy's Trio and the Seafood Hot Pot; both were delicious. The place was very busy, but the wait staff all worked together seamlessly to deliver an awesome dinner... And all this on a Tuesday! Oh and the older gentleman valet outside... Give that man a raise! He was so ultra accommodating greeting us with an "Aloha" as we arrived and running to open my door as we left. Thank you sir!

My better half and I tried getting in here for Happy Hour six months ago. A seat was not available so we split. This time, I arrived a half-an-hour early and answered a few emails awaiting the 4:30 bell to go off. I ordered a glass of GSM which was only $1 more than Happy Hour prices. What the hey right? Dar the bartender was professional, attentive and open to conversation. He was very welcoming and you can tell he's been doing this awhile. I ordered the Sliders that were accompanied by the Sweet Potato Fries. The food was DELECTABLE. They use a Chipotle Aioli on the Sliders and the fries were cut small and thin. They were lightly crispy on the outside and softer on the interior. YUM!!! I wanted to try more appetizers but I was alone and I did not want to have to ROLL out of the establishment. Next time I will return with reinforcements so we can sample different items that sounded HEAVENLY. It is almost the end of summer so it is not slammed yet but I would definitely recommend you arrive early. My only complaint is that a worker was going around cleaning the air vents in the ceiling while patrons were present. Not necessarily above diners but close enough to notice. Why not perform this task when the place is closed or empty?

The second we pulled into the parking lot, we were greeted with great staff, who valet our car for no charge. Once we got inside for happy hour, the lounge were happy hour is is full so there was a bit of a wait. I think the management realized this, so they opened another section for happy hour. I sure wish other restaurants did that rather than simply loose business. We had drinks in our hand almost instantly, and the food service was quick too--and delicious! Probably the best part was how child friendly they were. Our 2 year old was sooooo happy thought this dining experience we stayed for over 2 hours (rare when you have kids). They gave him activities, a free dinner snack while we were drinking our wine, and even a dessert on the house, with his name sketched on it. First class service!! With having a child we always have to move breakables away from him at the table, including drinks and meals. This was the first restaurant that we have ever been to that was mindful of this and it was greatly appreciated. When we left the reatsurant- our car was in front waiting for us. No idea how they knew we were ready, but since it isn't a luxury vehicle, and just a rental, I assume they weren't showing it off.

Roy's is one of our "Aloha Hour" favorites. Cocktail specials are refreshing, everything on the Aloha Hour menu is delicious and the calamari appetizer on the dinner menu was AWESOME! Our bartender, Dar, was very attentive and made our experience even better. We did not have a full dinner...no need to after Aloha Hour!

Great meal and superb service. Hubby and I worried about bringing our almost 4 year old but they were great with her. From the treasure box up front to the complimentary quesadilla they served right off to the desert with her name on it, they kept younger diners in mind. They even had our car ready even before we got outside. When my daughter dropped one of her little toys from the treasure box down the storm drain while getting in the car, the valet ran inside and got her a replacement. Bravo for all the great service. Ahi tuna was delicious.

Roy's is honestly the best franchise I've come across yet in terms of food quality and service. I came for the very first time recently for a dinner presentation and the meal really couldn't have been any better. Most everything from the appetizer sampler was delicious, especially the mad tender grilled pork ribs. Do skip the sushi though (no surprise there). For mains, my friend's filet mignon was solid and nicely seasoned. I, on the other hand, loved my blackened ahi tuna - exceptionally fresh, nearly melt-in-your-mouth and accompanied by some awesome spicy soy mustard. Service throughout was notably attentive and polite. Glasses were never empty and they even served the women first...props on the attention to detail. My only reservation is that while the food is very good, the prices are certainly steep. So while I wouldn't mind at all coming back, I'd lean towards trying out other new spots for the money.

My first visit there and it was great! I had the macadamia but mahi mahi! It was so good. But the best part was the chocolate lava cake.. It is a must if you go! The service is great and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I loved the ambiance. They even took a cute picture and put it in a nice little frame which was a nice touch! I cannot not wait to go back and try something different. I can't wait for the lava cake.. Try it once and you will be craving more! Lol hopefully my bf will get the hint ;) lol.

I thought happy hour would be 5 stars for sure. Boy was I wrong, the food was marginal and tiny portions. The happy hour drinks were lacking in the booze dept. The better items weren't on the happy hour menu. The black cod was FISHY The highlight was the pineapple upside down cake, stunning gourmet dessert. YUM!

Roy's is always a reliable place for a great meal. I do find it a bit too pricey as a seafood meal here costs about the same as Mama's Fish House in Maui. A good full meal with an appetizer, desert and cocktails will run you about $100 each. Don't let that prevent you from trying it because everything is excellent. Try the butterfish or the Hawaiian snapper. Yumm! The bread pudding a la mode is a perfect ending.

Absolutely the best. Makes you feel as though you are in Hawaii. The manager, Delfina Zarate, is amazing. She is a true professional. Most importantly she exhibits real care and concern for her patrons. She was extremely attentive and made my wife's birthday a wonderful event. We have a special needs grandson and the entire staff really made my family feel at home and like family. I am always impressed with a staff that is well trained and enjoy their work. Congratulations to all. By the way, the food is excellent. Thank you so much

Let's see...What can I add? More raves? Of course! I took my daughter, and son there for dinner. We hadn't all been together for awhile, and I wanted to celebrate. What better place could there be to do that? My daughter had never been to such a classy place, and was surprised, and pleased to be escorted to the Ladies room. ;) She's a picky eater, but was awed by the presentation and the excellent preparation of the food...Delicious! And the chocolate souffle was too luscious to describe! My son had the lobster, my daughter, the salmon, and I had the mahi-mahi. Needless to say, we were all feeling fat and happy. Thanks for another superior dining experience, Roy's!

Great food! Always enjoy a seat at the chefs counter watching all the action. Happy hour is great for a quick bite after work and a cocktail. I appreciate the atmosphere and that you can have a conversation at your seat, not so loud that you can't talk like many of the restaurants. Kameron always making sure we are well taken care of and his staff is superb!

What a great evening! We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and Valentines Day and could not have had a better experience. The place was packed with parties of all sizes and Roy's was prepared to handle it. The prix fixe dinner selections were diverse, well prepared and presented beautifully. Each course was timely and hot. The service was attentive, friendly but not over bearing. We enjoy visiting 4-5 times a year and are never disappointed with the food. We will be back soon. Thanks agian for the special treatment from the lovely manager and our server Adrian. Mahalo and aloha.

Had the opportunity to eat at Roy's once again but this time in Palm Springs. We've always had amazing food and service at his resturants from Maui to Seattle but the Palm Springs location not my favorite. We dined (my husband, myself and 2 ten year olds) mid-week. We were greated and seated quickly. The the waiter arrived and proceeded to lecture us on what to order even after we'd made it clear that we'd dined at Roy's numerous times. His suggestions were the most basic dishes on the menu and I was glad when he finally finished so I could decide what to order. Unfortunately he took a very long time coming back to us and it kind of set the tone for the rest of the meal with him barely providing basic service to us. As always the szechuan ribs and lobster pot sticker appetizers were amazing! I ordered Mac Nut Mahi with lobster sauce which I wasn't overly thrilled with. Husband ordered the blackened ahi withb soy mustard butter sauce. Always a standout and it didn't disappoint this time either! Best entree of the night was ordered by the ten year old, sea scallops with pork belly...unreal!!!! I was kicking myself after trying it! Honestly the next time I go I just want those SZECHUAN SPICED PORK RIBS, plates and plates of them. I remember eating them in Maui over a dozen years ago and they have only gotten better. Roy's Classic Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé is a must have....puts all the molten lava cakes to shame. Rich chocolate flavor abounds! Remember to order when you place your dinner order as it takes some time to make. There was a woman overlooking the servers who was excellent. I think we just got an a server that was trying to be something he clearly wasn't (which was knowledgeable, attentive and experienced). We will go back again? YES without a doubt Roy's in any location is well worth a stop!

Took my parents here for their wedding anniversary, and it was such a special evening. When I made the online reservation, I mentioned that we were celebrating an anniversary and provided my parents' name. When we arrived, the hostess greeted us with a "Happy Anniversary, Patrick & Diane" which immediately made my parents feel like rock stars. That was just the beginning. Once we sat down, my Mom opened her menu to find a customized page wishing them a happy anniversary. Of course, she squealed with excitement which made my dad want to pull out the page for my mom to have as a keepsake. Lucky for us, our server printed out extra copies and presented them to us at the end of the night. Which brings me to my next point. Our server Adrian was exceptional. He was incredibly friendly and made excellent recommendations that our group really enjoyed. Aside from that, his attention to detail was superb. I'm a vegetarian and my boyfriend has a list of allergies.Other dining experiences (at different establishments) have made us feel like a burden with our dietary restrictions, but he listened to our needs and took great care of us. We were all impressed with Adrian and will be sure to ask for him on our next visit. As for the food, well, we ate every last bite! As a veggie, I was so happy that my options went beyond the wedge salad (which was delicious, btw). Their vegetarian menu was very pleasing as was the gluten-free menu. The special menu made me feel included in the collective dining experience as opposed to stringing a bunch of side dishes together to create a somewhat decent meal. I really enjoyed the udon noodles with vegetables. At the end of the night, we were treated to a complimentary dessert that had "happy anniversary" drizzled in chocolate. We were also treated to a round of port wine to enjoy with the desert. At this point, Adrian came out with a camera and snapped a couple of photos of us. Minutes later, he brought out our photos in a Roy's picture frame. My parents were over the moon with delight! We also ordered the gluten free soufflé - it oozed with chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. Highly recommended! The level of service was outstanding - from the hostess, to Adrian to the valet attendant and other employees throughout the restaurant. The food was also excellent. I was truly blown away. Roy's went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful evening and we did . All of the little details and personalized touches made the experience priceless. Thank you! I will always recommend this restaurant when dining in the desert for a special occasion!

I'm a huge fan of Roy's but BEWARE of this location! We waited over an hour for our meal on a not-so-busy Wednesday night. Half way thru our meal I noticed across from the table that my son's Chicken Fingers were not cooked through. The inside of his crunchy chicken fingers was raw pink! I just about flipped out. How could a high end restaurant screw up chicken fingers!! I had them immediately take back the dish and berated them for serving raw chicken to a child. I only wish I had noticed before he had devoured half of it already. I'm praying he doesn't get salmonella from Roy's!

This chain restaurant first came into my life in Maui when we had our condo at the Kaanapali Alii in 1988; it was good then and it is still good now.service is all ways great and enjoyable from hostess, waiters and servers. And food is well prepared and fresh. It is a joy to dine here.

Food was great. Love butterfish. Hawaiian and ginger Martinis delicious and dessert great. Service was not so great. They looked at us like we were crazy when we handed them valet ticket. Feels like a chain restaurant. Dessert martinis were not good. Chocolate had raspberry not noted in menu and espresso was too bitter.

My boyfriend and I dined at Roy's saturday March 21, 2015. We had an early reservation around 5pm. As we arrived to the front of the establishment, we were greeted by the valet which was very nice. Walking into the restaurant, we were then greeted with two happy smiles; a young female and a gentleman- who went above and beyond to accomodate us. Put us in a corner - very romantic and secluded - to sit away from the children that were already seated with their family, which was very thoughtful. Now for the server, Mikai * sorry if I spelled that name incorrectly. He was absolutely superb. He was knowledgeable, attentive & friendly, the key things every server should be. The food was brought out in perfect timing, the drinks were great and the food was cooked perfectly! The manager came out to speak with us, the chef sent food to our table, the host came back to speak with us and get to know us a little better. We couldn't have had a better experience. Needless to say we will be going back when I go back to visit, which will be very soon! Thank you Roy's in Palm Springs for such an amazing experience, you have made two life long customers!! :)

Came to Palm Springs for a girls getaway. Decided to come to Roy's , I am very much a Roy's regular in the Anaheim location. First of all I like the fact that this location has complimentary valet. Walked it got seated right away, first think we notice how dark it was through out the whole resturant. Our waitress was very nice. Food was excellent as usual. Can't go wrong with Butterfish and lobster potstickers. Would diffently recommend if your ever in the area.

Excellent service. Came with a large group of 13 with last minute reservations made that day and they were so accomodating. We had 5 children in our group and they even had a treasure chest which they let each child choose a toy from. Kids menu was great. Drinks and food were very good but the service is impeccable. We have visited many Roys and this by far is the best one we have been to.

Unfortunately one of our favorite restaurants is falling victim to corporate takeover. Everything about the place is the same and great except for the food. Beautiful atmosphere, great service, and attentive restaurant manager who checked in with us but the food is nothing like it was before it was bought out by outback steakhouse. The butter fish was too salty and overwhelming. The tempura batter was soggy and oily and the oil was not fresh and you could taste the old oil flavor that overwhelmed the anemic prawn that it covered. I had the three fish entrée and none of them were memorable and all of them were overcooked and dry. This is really sad as we visit the area every year and always look forward to our special dinner at Roy's.

Good food and nice staff. My husband and I always get their fish trio .. you get a small piece salmon, halibut, and butter fish ~ so good. Their original 1988 martini, Finlandia Grapefruit, SOHO Lychee & Patrón Citrónge also delish. M.

We went to Roy's last night for my birthday; the service was excellent, they have complimentary valet parking, they are very nice and treat you like you're the only guest. We had items from the aloha menu for happy hour, I had a Mai tai, husband had 2 kona beers and we shared the tempura crusted ahi roll which was absolutely amazing. Then we moved to the dining room for the main course, my macadamia crusted ahi was fantastic, buttery and just delicious. My husband had the t bone with the truffle bacon Mac and cheese, oh my goodness! It was amazing!!! The coconut ice cream with the pineapple upside down cake and the flourless molten chocolate cake, holy goodness the best!!! They took a photo of us for my birthday and printed it out and put it in a little paper frame! John was our server and he was very attentive but not overbearing. Overall excellent service, delicious food and great atmosphere.

Very noisy, less than customer service. Especially considering the prices. Too long of a wait to get food after ordering. Waiter was defensive. Dessert was wrong, check was wrong...could not wait to get out of there!.

5 star service! Our table was never forgotten and was always asked if everything was alright. ..Sort of was a little too much, but glad to know we were never forgotten! Made a reservation online and left a little detail about our 6 year anniversary. Once we got there, my boyfriend and I were already greeted Happy Anniversary! Our menus were given to my boyfriend and I. To my surprise there was a printed paper greeting us a Happy Anniversary also! Wow! The food looked and tasted phenomenal, but was a little salty for my taste. I had the buttermilk fish entree. Tasty, warm, delicious. My boyfriend had the seafood hot pot, he liked it. The chocolate soufflé is a must, and they added complimentary desserts for our special dinner. I recommend the mussels as an appetizer! A bit pricey, but worth it for that special occasion(: Plus, complimentary valet.

Got to try the famous Roy's. We had high expectations for the food. The tuna here was ok. We have had better quality tuna at Flemmings. The steaks need some seasoning. The lobster was the best thing we had.

This is quite possibly the best restaurant in the Coachella Valley. The whole staff from the valet to the servers are very professional. The waiters will walk you through the menu in an unobtrusive manner. I had the scallops and my husband the filet. Both were amazing . The chocolate soufflé was to die for. The waiter and manager will address you by your last name during your meal. It is pricey but worth every penny.

On our last night in Palm Springs it was time for a treat. No matter where we eat at a Roy's (Maui, Pebble Beach, San Francisco) it's consistently good service and food. Ricardo our server was a prime example. My 8 year old daughter loves cucumbers with oil and vinegar. It's the closest thing to a salad that I can get her to eat at home. I asked Ricardo if he could have the kitchen make this for her. He carefully wrote down my request to make sure he had it right. And soon there appeared a little bowl with cucumber salad just as my daughter likes. Cocktails are always mixed right. The quality of the ingredients and the detailed presentation are top notch. My son and I had the summer pri fixe for $36.95. What a deal. Choice of appetizer, main and dessert. Some of the mains, like my wife's butterfish, cost over $30 so it's a bargain. I had the short rib spring rolls (Yum!), the Mahi Mahi and a chocolate molten cake. My son had the beef filet. His was supposed to come with cauliflower which he did not want. Rather than just leave it off they replaced it tender little roasted potatoes which he loved. Again, the little things. My daughter had the children's meal and when her ice cream sundae came Ricardo had her name written in chocolate syrup on the plate. I didn't tell him to do this, he must have overheard her name and took the initiative. She loved it (see the pic). Awesome!

Decent food, 6 on scale of a 10. Pretty good for the desert. Always smells like the sewer backed up, and actually had reservations showed up and it was closed..for that reason.

One of our best dining experiences ever! John was our waiter, and took great care of us, especially our 23 month old daughter. They made friends pretty quickly. They really do make you feel like family here. We love going to any Roy's restaurants, but this became our favorite tonight. If you're ever in the area, they won't disappoint. Food and service were too-notch. Thank you again John, and management team. Keep up the great work!

We were wowed by the experience. I made reservations for myself and a friend to celebrate her birthday...as soon as we were brought to our table they presented her w a birthday certificate in the menu with her name. they really know how to add special touches to create a memorable experience. they also took a photo of us with her name written on the desert and framed it for her. i could not have asked for a better experience:)

I would have given Roy's more stars because I enjoyed the atmosphere and service. However, I am disappointed in the chef's use of so much butter. More than I ever remembered, many dishes contain butter in the preparation. I love Asian because I want to eat healthier and enjoy lower fat, low saturated fat food. I guess Roy's is not that place.

We were here Saturday with friends for dinner. Started with the Ahi Poke and a couple of Mai Tai's (tasty!). Around the table were the Butterfish, Fillet Mignon and Ono entrées. This is probably not the place to order a fillet and to be honest you really wouldn't dine here if you're craving beef. But be forewarned, the fillet portion is petite folks. I ordered the Ono (usually prepared medium rare) and Forbidden Rice, how could I not order Forbidden Rice! The Ono was a bit overdone but was cheerfully taken back and the replacement was right on point! The Butterfish was a hit with the folks who ordered it.

The service was good, but the food was mediocre. I was bothered by a man who appeared to be a manager hitting on the waitresses. He would flirt and pat them. Consensual or not this public display was uncomfortable.

If I could, it would give them 20 stars. We had a group,of almost thirty people for happy hour/dinner In a private room, decorated by Kim, from the restaurant, Carlos was our server. He is amazing and I mean amazing. He kept every order straight, even the drinks. It could not have been a better experience.

Everything was ABSOLUTELY amazing. From the minute we drove up we couldn't have had a better experience, from the valet to servers to bus boy to manager, everyone friendly and professional. We celebrated my folks 50th anniversary and it was picture perfect!!! They even took a pic and printed it out right there for us!! We will be back for sure!!!

Roy's has recently updated their happy hour menu. My wife and I tried four different items on the menu; all were $5, and all were delicious. The ahi tacos were a bit on the small side (I called them "cute" when they arrived), but they were tasty. Specialty cocktails are also on special. If you like mai tais, I recommend staying away from the classic mai tai on the menu (it's way too molasses-y for my tastes), and go with the "Joe Tai." It's a recipe from Joe the bartender, and it packs a pretty good punch! And speaking of Joe, he was very friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend this place.

I LOVE Roy's but this one was a liiiiiittle different. My Miso Butterfish was more overly saturated with sauce than usual. Our server was funny and spoke with a thick Spanish accent, and I could hardly understand what he was saying. When we did understand him, he was really funny. As we left, I said Aloha! since we were in a Hawaiian Restaurant and he said, no..I'm Mexican, not Aloha....Gracias! It was funny, but strange. The poke was GREAT...the calamari was tasteless and not good. I would recommend sticking to American and Mexican food in Palm Springs and coming down to LA for Roy's

My husband and I came here for our anniversary and the service was OUTSTANDING! I noted when I made the reservation online that we would like a quiet table because we were celebrating our first anniversary. They wished us a happy anniversary upon checking in and when we opened our menus, there was a piece of paper covering the drink list that said happy anniversary mr and mrs h. It made the evening even more special. The food was also delicious and the server was extremely attentive. Then, to top it all off, they brought a complimentary dessert and took a picture of us and had it printed as a keepsake. I can't say enough good things about this place. It was a perfect dining experience!!

Went here for New Year's Eve dinner with the family and friends. Food was excellent and the service was outstanding. The Butterfish was melt in your mouth delicious and the Sea Bass was heavenly. Lobster Dim Sum was outrageously good. our waiter was attentive, patient and went the extra mile to accommodate the kids. Everyone in our party of 8 left happy. True Ohana spirit. You guys got it right. Outstanding job Roy's!

We were here in May, it was really good! The fish was delicious. The pineapple upside down cake was super yummy! (I posted pics) Our waiter was very friendly. They were excellent about refiling beverages! They start you off with edamame which was really good. It was a little more expensive than I had anticipated but it was very good and I will definitely be back next time I'm in Palm Springs! Great ambiance! Also - the manager (I think it was the manager - or a manager) was very good looking so it was kinda nice to enjoy a delicious meal and have something to look at. He even came and cleared some plates. Definitely recommend it! :)

I was extremely disappointed. From the beginning it was just a bad dinner. My wife and I went there for our anniversary because we were in Palm Springs and figured we've never had a bad experience at any of the other Roy's Restaurants so why not. Well that turned out to be a bad choice. From the start they put us at a table in the back right up against a wall. Needless to say this was an uncomfortable table and I asked to relocate. The next table was okay. However, because we had been there already 10 minutes I thought it would be good to get an appetizer going. So when the waiter took our drink order I asked for a sushi roll to start. The waitress told me that I needed to wait until she could take my complete order. I've never been told that before. Then luckily they switched our waiter. The next waiter was fantastic and placed my appetizer order without any issues. Everything from that point in regards to service was great. The only reason I was disappointed anymore was that our favorite dish. The Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi was dry. We've had this in 4 other Roy's and loved it every time. This tasted like something from Red Lobster. It was horrible and even though we should have asked for it to be removed from the bill we just kept our mouths shut because we didn't want to ruin our anniversary anymore. Bummer!

This review is for the dining room only as the bar happy hour deserves a higher rating. For the price, this place is too hit or miss for me. We had dinner there last night, another time about a month ago and a year and a half ago. It has gotten progressively worse each time. Last night we had to get the attention of the hostess and then watch as she squabbled with the other hostess over a piece of paper. She yanked it out of the others hands in a very childlike manner. We were then seated by the hostess who had been ridiculed in front of us and it was awkward and she seemed embarrassed. I then proceeded to order a glass of champagne and it arrived in a dirty glass. Disgusting! The menu appeared to have changed since our last visit and many of the apps were fried, think costco frozen section. I ordered the blackened ahi, not bad quite good in fact but my filet minon entree which took about an hour to arrive, was completely over cooked and had to be returned. The second one was hit and miss. Although it seemed to be more properly prepared, every other bite had a bad taste so I stopped eating and waited for dessert. Hands down the best part of the night. I'd go one star but the waiter was friendly and tried to keep us happy. The valet driver was great.

Outstanding meal at Roy's. Food and drinks were delicious. Service from Ray was impeccable. We went early and took our kids, 9 and 5. We appreciate a restaurant that offers real food options on the kids menu, including sushi, salmon, ribs.

How often do you get the chance to go in the kitchen of a high end restaurant ?? To work with the head chef ..... and learn some of the "secrets" of the sauces they prepare daily ??? Roy's Hawaiin Fusion in Rancho Mirage provides that chance They hold a "cooking class" on saturday mornings starting at 11 AM and lasting till 1:30 or 2 pm. It is an outstanding experience ....... an amazing learning experience. The head Chef Charles Andres welcomes a group of 16 - 18 people into the kitchen then shows how to prepare an appitizer, a main entre on the dinner menu and a dessert found in all Roy's restaurants. . Our class involved preparing on of their most popular menu items - Butterfish with a Misoyaki marinade. The appitizer we helped to prepare was an Olive oil poached Ono with a butternut squash puree. Desest was a Lemon grass, orange Cream Brule. We got the opportunity to participate and then watch as three cooks showed the intricate work involvedin cutting and cooking the squash - removing the skin in one stroke of a 6 foot piece of cod and a butterfish. They detailed the ingredients in the marinades, the seasoning on the edaname beans, and the method for preparing lemongrass to bring out the flavor in the dessert. Once the meal has been prepared you sit along the counter looking into the kitchen and dine ..... It is always amazing to eat at Roy's ..... but it isspaecialwhen you have helped to prepare some of the food and you know the vast amount of work that goes on "behind the scenes" in preparing your supurb dinners. Just a great experience. I'll be back very soon ....... don't pass on this chance.

It was our very first visit. Loved everything about Roy's. The food was delicious, and the service exceptional, and they have complimentary valet parking. The manager, Delphina stopped by our table, greeted us by name and made sure we were well taken care of. I enjoyed the seared scallops, but I want to try the macadamia nut Mahi Mahi next time... p.s. They have an awesome Chardonnay made for them by a vineyard in Paso Robles. We will be returning for sure.

Let me start by saying we've eaten at Roy's many, many times before in several different cities. I've never felt compelled to write a review because its a chain and chain restaurants, on a whole, tend to be just ok all around. Tonight, however, things were exceptional! Our server Jerome ensured that our anniversary was special. Jerome was, hands down, the best server we've ever had at Roy's. The food was better than ever before. Even our bus boy (so sorry I don't know his name) and our valet driver Ramiro went above and beyond (please tip Ramiro extra-we made a mistake with our cash and were short. We will be sure to get him next time but he was supremely gracious about it). We had the Haleakala roll, lobster pot stickers, Korean fried rice, blackened ahi, and the surf and turf (lobster and filet mignon). Everything was delicious, definitely better than anything I've had there before. If I had a complaint it was maybe the lobster but I'm usually very picky about lobster and filet so still pretty great. I'm not sure what the Rancho Mirage Roy's is doing differently but its working for me!

My husband and I made reservations here for our anniversary and could not have been happier. When we first arrived we were warmly greeted and wished a happy anniversary. The menu had a special insert with our names again wishing us a happy anniversary. We ordered the 1988 cocktail upon our waitresses recommendation which was fantastic. We also had the Mahi Mahi and Short Ribs, both good but Mahi was the better of the two. Our evening was capped off by a complimentary desert and a photo that was later put in a paper frame. Our evening was made very special by the staff and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Located off the very dark (and fast moving) Highway 111, it was hard to identify restaurants that were open at that time of night (though I'm not familiar at all with the area and did no research prior to visiting). This Roy's is a standalone restaurant (the downtown location is built into a building). Tiki torches announce the place. I think valet is required though there seems to be a huge parking lot where you could easily park yourself. The inside kind of reminded me of a Houston's. Dark hues and nice (but not too formal) tables and seating. There is a decent size bar area as well as an open kitchen. We came really late on a Friday night, but the place had a decent crowd. Roy's Asian fusion menu has prices similar to Houston's (with entrees between $23 and $33). They have a special pre fixe menu at $35--which allows you to pick one of 3 appetizers, one of 4 entrees and one of two desserts. This is not a bad option if you are looking for a variety of food but do not want to spend too much. They started us off with edamame. I often found edadmame bland (there are always exceptions though this was not one of them). We got Roy's canoe appetizer to start, which was a sampling of several of their appetizers, including: --Szechuan St. Louis Ribs (Sweet and tender. This was my favorite of what was offered. You can also get it as a standalone appetizer). --Lobster Potstickers (I found the outside a little too soft. I was expecting it to be more crispy. The inside lobster filling was tasty). --Spicy Tuna Roll (It was basically spicy tuna roll that was deep fried tempura style. It was decent). --Shrimp Sticks (Okay). --Kalbi Grilled Beef Satay (Not bad but kind of dry). For my entree, I went with the Roy's Classic Trio of fish. Each fish portion was about the size you would get in a tasting menu. It was big enough though it was definitely smaller than the other big portion dishes being ordered--such as the rib eye, chicken and beef short ribs. Of the trio of fish, I liked the hibachi salmon the best. Nice textures with the fish moist but also nicely blackened on the outside. It was served with a citrus ponzu sauce (a little tart at first but okay). I would probably rate the Hawaiian Style Misoyake Butterfish second. The butterfish (a white fish similar to mahi mahi) was moist. It was served with a soy vinaigrette and topped with tobiko. It was okay (could have used more definition in the flavors); it would not be something I would order again. It was served with bok choy. The last fish selection was blackened ahi. I've had better ahi, but this one was cooked properly (nice sear on the outside, rare on the inside). It was served with a spicy soy mustard sauce. Definitely spicy and sinus clearing with an effect similar to wasabi and horseradish. The entree also came with a small rice ball with a little bit of furikake (but no seaweed wrapping). For dessert, I went with the melting hot chocolate souffle. It was served with vanilla ice cream (on top of a hard vanilla wafer) and a raspberry sauce. I did not get the reason for the raspberry sauce. There was too much of it; the taste was quite strong, and it should have been used more sparingly. It would have been better without it. The cold ice cream was good and went well with the molten chocolate cake. The molten center was perfect, but the chocolate cake's crust may have been slightly overcooked (like hardened brownie at the edge of a baking pan). The chocolate was very rich. I enjoyed it (and if you are a fan of chocolate, you will probably enjoy it as well). I think the melting hot chocolate souffle was better at the Roy's in Downtown Los Angeles though. The service was very good. Often times, when you come to a restaurant late, you can get some pretty lousy service. The staff is tired; they just want to get you out the door. Here though, we never felt rushed. The waitress was very good--friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. For birthdays, they do a special dessert and even provide a photo of the group at the end of the meal. At the very end, one of the waiters came over and said that the team was pushing him to sing us a birthday song. The waiter built up the song quite well. I thought he was going to belt out something quite spectacular. The song was quite short and abrupt as was his quick exit. Definitely tongue-in-cheek and definitely funny. I think the food overall may be in the 3 to 3.5 stars range though the service would be more in the 4.5 to 5 stars range. I like Houston's (another high-end chain) better. That being said, this Roy's may not be a bad option in the area.

Has to be great in all catagories: good, service, value to get a 5 star rating from me, but Roy's gets it. Took clients out and had a great time. Seated quickly. The food is exceptional, I had the Butterfish which was unique and terrific. The house martini is a must try: pineapple infused vodka, vanilla vodka and coconut rum. Like a nice light pina coloda. No complaints whatsover. Oh-the wine list has something for everyone and its priced right. I've also been to Roy's in Kauai which was also great. I'm a fan.

I will start with WE LOVE ROY'S! It is our "go to" place for any special occasion. We have been to 4 different Roy's in Hawaii and to Roy's multiple times in Newport Beach, Anaheim, Pebble Beach and Seattle (now closed). I know the level of service and the quality of food. We arrived early on a Friday b/c my husband had a function we needed to attend at 8 PM but didn't want to miss a chance to try a new Roy's. Since it was 5 PM and the restaurant was not busy, the chef came out to say hello and asked what brought us to Roy's. Told him we LOVE ROY'S and we were there for a belated birthday celebration for my husband. Wow....rarely does a chef come out to say hello, what a nice welcome. Food was ok but service was atrocious. I had chef's wedge salad-lettuce not crisp, sparse on the bacon and tomato but blue cheese dressing and balsamic drizzle was divine and it was a nice size portion. I ordered butterfish wraps appetizer as my entrée since Roy's chocolate soufflé is not to be missed. Wraps had lots of crunch and the dressing was great but fish was cold and oily. Asked waiter if fish was to be warm and he kind of snapped that it was a cold appetizer but the fish should be warm. They returned with the appetizer with warm fish. My husband ordered a shrimp dish and his was hot and really tasty. Anticipating the chocolate soufflé, we ordered coffee and it arrived promptly. We were never offered a dessert menu to select a second dessert so I assumed the chef might send something out since it was a birthday dinner. Nope and by the time the soufflé arrived, our coffee cups were empty. Finished dessert, sans that delicious Kona coffee as waiter and his assistant never came back even after I flagged down the assistant and asked for more coffee. When the waiter came by with our check, I mentioned this was the first Roy's I had been to where I had to ask for coffee and ask to have my water glass refilled. The waiter (John) replied with "we are in a drought and don't refill the water glasses as it is wasteful but they will gladly refill when a customer asks". Seriously? I get the drought but the waiter for the next table filled glasses for the four adults and three very small children more than once! Not buying it John, not buying it! Overall, this Roy's was not worth the trip! Not only were we NOT made to feel special, the food was only above average but the service was not. Lucky for the waiter my husband paid the check because if I was paying, my credit card would have had a drought on the gratuity line.

We've been here numerous occasions and not once have we had a poor or even o.k. experience. Each and every visit has been outstanding! The service is terrific! Most recently, I'd like to acknowledge our server, Marco. He was so friendly and professional, and anticipated our needs. He mastered walking the delicate line of being attentive yet not obtrusive. The food, cocktails and wine were top notch! Dessert was impressive as always. Kudos to the manager for her floor presence. I'm sorry that I forgot her name, but was impressed that she touched our table and engaged us appropriately. Also, the valet was excellent: super friendly and speedy.

Roy's is a chain so I was happy to know what to expect when visiting this location near Palm Springs. My dinner companion and I decided to visit Roy's on a whim so the only reservation on Saturday night was at 9pm. We grabbed drinks elsewhere and saved our appetites for Roy's. We ordered a delicious bottle of wine to go with our food. Our server was very attentive to our needs. Making recommendations when we were trying to decide between items. I had the Blackened Island Ahi and he had the Hibachi Grilled Salmon. Both were so delicious!! No overbearing favors just right and beautifully presented. The portions were perfect for our appetites that night. Roy's is pricey but worth it. The atmosphere is perfect for groups celebrating an occasion or a date.

Amazing service and delicious food. You never have to ask for more water or another soda. Love that! There was a little problem with my order, but the staff handle the situation beautifully and went above and beyond. Not only did they comp my meal, they also made me a salad while my order was re-made. Talk about making a bad situation into a positive. I was very impressed with how management handled everything - even without the comp meal. I still would have paid for it. What we ordered: Apps: Lobster Potstickers and Shrimp & Green Papaya - both excellent, esp the potstickers Main Courses: Seared Ahi & Lemongrass Chicken - Yum-o! Each very flavorful. The chicken was as tender as it gets! Dessert - Chocolate Souffle - S-I-N-F-U-L!! FYI - if you are getting there after 6, make a reservation. Kudos to Chef Kevin and Sous Chef Joey. We will definitely be back!

It was a flawless evening. Josh is an incredible server and Ananda is an unbelievable sommelier. So good in fact that we even ordered a second bottle of wine (which we never do). We didn't finish it, but her suggestions were so good, we didn't want to miss one more chance to enjoy another one. The food was outstanding too. Thank you so much Roy's!

I really wasn't impressed by the Roy's on Kauai or the Big Island and felt the same lacking here in the desert. Although good, I just feel Roys lacks imagination. I feel the Hawaiian "Holy Trinity" (guava, mango, and pineapple) just isn't keeping up with the rest of "Asian Fusion" and should recognize a wider use of vinegars and spices as the rest of the West Coast has.. Our Waiter was friendly and funny, but he was off with his highly touted appetizer recommendation of Calamari. I've had better by "Gortons" frozen. The GF had the Butter Fish which all you Yelpers were right on about. Now THAT'S what I mean about "Imagination".. My MahiMahi was, "Meh!" MehiMehi??? I like the tag!! NOW, the Desserts.... STELLAR!!! 'Twer I to suggest something to all of you? Go get the Chilean Sea Bass at PF Changs and then come to Roy's for dessert in the bar!! I thanked the Manager for the Good Meal, but main thing I lauded her establishment on was our Bus Guy, "Israel"!! If I was in business, I would steal his ass from Roy's in a hot second!! The guy was everywhere, cleaning, watering, and attentive beyond anyone I remember. All that with a smile, fun attitude, and friendly style. Roy's should elevate him to Waiter ASAP with an eye toward grooming him for management.. ~REALLY!!~ OK, so I think Roy's is pretty Damned good place, albeit a bit too expensive for what "I" feel you get.. Why only 2 stars??? I like that "MehiMehi" thang!!!

Went for dinner here last week. The service is excellent and that was maintained from the moment we arrive to the end. The food was above average. We ordered appetizers: Calamari, ahi roll and lobster potstickers. All were delicious..especially the calamari! The entrees were very good .The butterfish was perfectly cooked, but the salmon was Meh....nothing to write home about. I thought the chicken was delicious and the prix fixe menu at about $35 is a nice price. Good value. The drinks were strong and kept coming. Our server Nicola (sp?) was perfect and we did not want for anything. The ambiance is very nice and you can see that the owner(s) take good care of the place as it is clean, comfortable and classy.

After a day spent at the Salton Sea, my hiking friend and I wanted something with service and pizazz. This restaurant's service had the Aloha spirit from the moment I called on the telephone to make reservations. It continued when we drove in the parking lot, where the friendly parking valet said "Aloha". Once we walked inside we were greeted ever so warmly again"Aloha" and given a choice of regular menu, vegetarian menu or gluten free menus. Couldn't have asked for better service. The portion of the food in regards to the price is where the 1 star was deducted. My friend ate the salmon, though he left hungry, and the noodles and vegetables dish which I ordered, left me wanting more vegetables. The pineapple upside down cake was good, although I expected a grandma sized portion. Guess I'll have to find another place that makes this, bake my own or partake of my Trader Joe's Fresh Pineapple. Mahalo.

We usually love Roy's. The food and service we've experienced at the locations in Kauai, Newport Beach and San Diego has always been tremendous. Last night we went to the Roy's in Rancho Mirage for a belated birthday celebration. There were 5 in our party. Everything started out nicely...there was a special birthday message in the birthday girl's menu (always a nice Roy's touch), drink orders were taken and cocktails arrived quickly. Then we ordered an appetizer for all to share and our entrees. Things fell apart once entrees began to come out. Two of the plates arrived. About 5 minutes later part of my sister-in-law's order arrived. My father-in-law insisted we start while awaiting the rest of the food. His finally came out but the plate was cold. We were all well into our meals by the time my mother-in-law's scallops arrived. When we were all almost done, my father-in-law's side of fried rice was delivered. When everything was done, my sister-in-law's samosa was brought to the table. My husband's Mai Tai came after three requests and once the table had been cleared. The big issue is that there were no apologies as stuff was being brought out late. Our waitress seemed surprised that we we not happy with the way the orders were delivered. She gave a very belated and insincere sounding apology eventually and offered to have the manager come over. He, too, gave a very lame apology and said he'd talk to the chef. My father-in-law's meal was taken off the bill. Something was just so off from what we've experienced at other Roy's restaurants. I gave three stars because the food was great once it arrived. But the service was a 2 at best. It was supposed to be a special celebratory evening and it was really ruined by their service. So sad.

Our salads were delish, the macadamia encrusted mahi mahi was fantastic, and even if you think you shouldn't, you MUST order the pineapple upside-down cake. It was to DIE for. Not to mention, the service is wonderful. Absolutely and completely. We went two nights in a row and were recognized, so given the VIP treatment. How cute is THAT?! Love love love it.

Always one of my favorite restaurants but they are AMAZING with kids! When we sat down, immediately the staff came to us with a small plate of vegetables and quesidillas without asking. There was a treasure chest where they could pick out a gift and great coloring books were given to them too. Really made the experience memorable in all ways. Thank you!

Yuck. If you like slimy, cold fish and uber slow (albeit friendly) service, then by all means, check out Roy's. I am utterly confused by all the positive ratings, because our recent experience was dismal, and I didn't get the sense it was because they were having an "off" night, although pretty much everything was off the night we were there. While our drink order was taken promptly upon being seated, that is where the good service ended. Nearly 30 minutes later, our drinks arrived. How long does it take to make a martini, pour a glass of wine and mix two virgin piña coladas? Appetizers arrived tepid nearly 45 minutes after we took our seats. 90 minutes for our main courses. Our waitress was pleasant and swung by at least five times to let us know "your order will be right up," but then too much time would pass before anything made it to our table. Clearly there were problems in the kitchen that night. The manager must have noticed our long wait because even he came by to say "I hear your order will be right up," but offered no apology for the slow service. Had the food been delicious, we may have been able to overlook it because we enjoyed our family time, but sadly, no such luck. Without getting into too much boring detail about the uninspired food, which arrived at our table barely room temperature, is it me, or has the Roy's menu not evolved much in the last 15 years? We did have a new pork belly appetizer that we were super excited about, but it was cold and had a flavorless green sauce that my daughter said looked like ectoplasm. And it kinda did. Is it strange that the best dishes we had all night were the cheese quesadilla strips that they serve to kids when they first sit down and the short ribs off the kids menu? We had the Misoyaki Butterfish with Sizzling Soy and the Roy's Trio. The butterfish was nearly all bloodline, the sauce was far from sizzling and the salmon in the trio insipid. The best out of the trio was the Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi. Just ok on its own but fantastic next to the other two fish dishes, which were over sauced yet strangely lacking in flavor. Served with our main courses is what I can only describe as a slice of crunchy, cold, rice loaf. And while the food was cold, the plates were scalding hot. The crispy shrimp roll? What happens to tempura coating when it sits under a heat lamp for too long? It gets mushy and pasty. It should have never made it to our table. This review may be harsh, but we've had decent experiences at other Roy's in Pebble Beach, Chicago, Maui and Scottsdale. We've never thought it is the most amazing food, but it's been consistent. Unfortunately, Roy's Rancho Mirage left us feeling angry that we spent more than $300 for a horrible experience. As we waited for our car from the valet (who was great...friendly and fast), my husband went back into the restaurant to look for a manager, but after a minute of looking, just wanted to go home. I blame ourselves for not voicing our concerns and demanding something better while there, but we just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. Sorry Roy's, but we won't be back.

We went there last night for dinner and we were a little disappointed.. It was a Monday so fairly quiet and we are big Roy's fans but usually at their Woodland Hills location. I have to say, it was not up to their usual high standards in my book. The Sezhuan Ribs appetizer were not spicy, my butter fish and Rib special was ok, the rib was the best but all a bit over seasoned, versus the butter fish which was just cooked. My wife had the steak and lobster special and the lobster was perfect but the steak lacked flavor and was a bit stringy and chewy. My son had the Thai chicken and as usual with him was destroyed in seconds with no complaints. Sauces were a bit overpowering and in some cases under seasoned others too salty, the mashed potato was also too salty for our taste. The chocolate soufflé for desert takes 20 minutes and well worth the wait, awesome although the raspberry sauce didn't do much for me? The food is usually amazing at Roy's, maybe our expectations are very high from our other location or maybe we had an off night. The service from our waiter was second to none, he was fabulous. There was nothing wrong with the food here and the presentation is fabulous, its a great dining experience and reasonably priced, I'm just saying that it wasn't the usual greatness last night. It's well worth a visit though if you are in Palm Desert.

Been to other Roys - in Kona and San Francisco. This was one of the lower tasting Roy's we have been to. First off, there was a hair in the edamame. And one of the signature dishes - the miso butterfish was watery and didn't have much a miso flavor. The only thing that was consistent across to the other Roy's was the chocolate soufflé. Service was overly interruptive - so much it interfered with normal conversation. Won't go back to this Roy's.

Went again this evening and what can I say! The service was exceptional and the food melted in my mouth. Thanks again to the wonderful staff at Roy's who always go over and beyond! We will be back.

We had the best dining experience we've had in over a year at Roy's. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious. The drinks refreshing and ambiance was very nice. There just isn't a single negative here. We enjoyed the edamame, and then were treated to a complimentary young beet salad. Next up, a tofu citrus ponzu vegetarian dish, and the Hawaiian pork dish. The pineapple upside down cake was a delicious finish. We also had a few cocktails - The hawaiian martini and a sangria with spices and blackberry. Again, only praise for this awesome experience to which all others in and around Palm Springs should and will be compared.

First visit and definately going back. Loved every moment from start to end. Management was definately making each guest feel special by visiting each table, folding napkins when patrons left the table for a break, helping serve food, opening doors....now thats someone who really cares.Food, drinks and service was amazing. We ordered the skinny coconut drink and margarita, ordered the boat sampler app, YUM! which included ribs, sushi, lobster stickers, and chicken. Entree was cooked to perfection, surf and turf and fish trio platter, so good. We couldnt stop there and ordered the pineapple upside down cake with ice cream. Needless to say we ate every morsel.

I came down to Indian Wells for work, and was thrilled when Yelp showed me there was a Roy's only a hop, skip, & a jump away. The OUTSTANDING service started with the friendly valet, the host swapping out my light napkin for a dark one, and knowledgeable and friendly service from Billy. I was brought a dish of edamame seasoned with salt, pepper, sugar, sesame, & orange zest. For my appetizer, I ordered the Hawaiian style Ahi poke. I asked for it to be mild, but after one bite I was dripping in sweat. Billy & the manager quickly had the kitchen make me a modified recipe in a simple non-spicy dressing, and it was delicious! The little bit of pico de gallo on top of the tuna, avocado, sesame oil, soy, green onions mixture was a nice surprise. For my entree, I ordered the Hawaiian style misoyaki butterfish. Roy's knows how to cook fish. It was glazed perfectly, moist, and smooth. It was a no brainer for dessert. I devoured my chocolate souffle with Belgian chocolate, raspberry coulis, & vanilla ice cream. AWESOME food and service. My only regret is that I didn't return to Roy's for my second dinner while I was in town.

My in-laws booked Roy's for our wedding rehearsal dinner a couple months ago. Easy booking and they gave us the Tiki Room which fit about 40 of us and was very private. The room was maybe a little too dark but it was still good ambience. Service was good. I don't remember what I had because the servers kept bringing dish after dish to our table. I remember there was some sort of shrimp dish that melted in your mouth. And they brought us samplers of 3 of their desserts. Not very helpful in specific dishes, but everyone raved about how good the food was at the rehearsal dinner. Will definitely be back when we celebrate our 1 year anniversary out there!

Wonderful customer service. When on 7/15/2012 for happy hour. Ordered all 6 happy hour appetizers and 2 drinks for 2 of us. Everything was delicious. Liked the Ebi roll the best and ordered one more. So total bill was only $48 after tax.. Very good place for happy hour.

What a fabulous dining experience. I have eaten at 6 different Roys locations and this stands among the best. The service was extraordinary from the complimentary valet when we arrived to the doorman when we left. Foodwise, we love the edamame instead of the traditional bread basket to start. Roy's Hawaiian Martini is a tasty cocktail that can go down fast and easy! All the courses were delicious but the meal highlights at our table included the split pea and rock shrimp soup, the seafood cioppino with the asian fusion spin, and of course the signature chocolate souffle. Roy Yamaguchi obviously has maintained a high level of quality control across his franchise.

I've never written a review on anything but I felt compelled after my visit to Roy's in Rancho Mirage. Wow... What a wonderful experience and it was my first time eating at a Roy's. My birthday weekend and we decided to go to Roy's for dinner two days prior to the big day. We sat at the bar and had a great bartender by the name of Dar. He recommended a few great sushi roll appetizers on their happy hour menu and they were both absolutely delicious. He sent out a complimentary pot sticker appetizer which was tasty and on the house which is always a nice gesture. I had Eddies jalapeño martini which rocked! We shared the 3 course meal which was more then enough and scrumptious. It ended with a beautiful dessert with a candle and even a picture which they framed in their own paper frame and gave it to us as a memory of our evening. A great start to our 4 day weekend in the dessert! I will be back.......

The food at Roy's is very good, especially the scallops. What made this a truly 5 star evening was the service and management. We ordered the appetizer plate to share and when the manager asked how it was we said we loved all of it except one item. There was nothing wrong with it, we just didn't care for it. She then took it upon herself to bring us something special. We weren't complaining but Kimberly, being an outstanding manager, turned it into an amazing evening. Between Kimberly and our wonderful server, Michelle, it was probably the best service I have ever had at a restaurant. Oh, and for a wonderful treat, be sure to try the bread pudding!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we finished our evening, it was perfect. We were greeted at the door, by a very personable staff. The table support staff were flawless. Carlos, our server, was impeccable, well informed, engaging, but not intrusive. The cuisine, well, was 10 star. Just perfect. layers of flavor and textures. This was our first time at Roy's, and as locals, we have many fine dining restaurants to choose from, but this is at the top for us. See you next time.

We came to Roy's to celebrate a friend's birthday. Great service, ambience and a wide selection of dishes & wine. You can't go wrong with any dish - seafood trio was the highlight for me. The chocolate dessert is to die-for - don't miss it. The manager (Delfina?) stopped by to check on us (nice gesture!). Would definitely recommend and return.

My new Hubby and I went here on our Honeymoon. We had excellent service!! The staff was very kind and acknowledged our Honeymoon celebration. The portions of food were PERFECT. We had the Summer Fusion 3 course meal. Each course came out at perfect timing of each other. The meat was cooked to perfection! The cheesecake for dessert was to die for and they even brought over a special dessert to celebrate our Marriage! They even took a picture of us and printed it out and framed it in a Roy's style frame! I was amazed how well they listened to what we didn't like and did everything to make our night perfect. We left with happy full bellies!! We plan to make this an Anniversary tradition for many years to come!!!! Hats off to the chef!
